I have a ‘76 model that my mom bought after I graduated high school and left home. It’s the model that was designed to allow other attachments such as a generator, but I think TroyBilt elected to not get into the attachment biz. I’m thinking it probably had something to do with the changing culture of our litigious society and the obvious increase in liability for dangerous rotating things being exposed. Probably the end of the days when manufacturers assumed most people were familiar with Darwinian Theory and didn’t need to hold cell phones while they were working.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that it has twice as many grease seals and a two piece PTO shaft. I want to completely overhaul and restore it because of the sentimental value. The problem is the old Tecumseh cast iron engine is too old for parts availability unless I have them made. I wont take it apart until I get a reliable source for parts, so I put a new Predator 6HP on it. Fit perfectly except for the throttle control. The whole bottom needs to be disassembled, cleaned, repaired and repainted. I think the original decals are still available from TroyBilt. Say what you will, but I figure 50 years support is good support. I still have the original owners manual and repair manual.

A ‘76 model wouldn’t be a PTO. Shoot me the serial and I’ll date it. PTO’s were first produced in Sept of ‘82.
There was a generator, log splitter and brush chipper available for the PTO models. Stickers are no longer available, but there is a guy on eBay selling very nice reprints. And custompartsinc.com will have everything you need to refresh that transmission.

Last March the top of a pine broke off and landed in the access to where I keep my summer/dirt work implements.





I couple days ago I hooked a choker onto it and dragged it out into the woods and out of the way.





Today I put the BearCat manual feed chipper on the M5640.





And cleaned up the slash and debris that broke off the pine when it fell





There is more there than it looks and it made a pretty good pile of chips





I can get at my blades and LandPlane now - going to need them





Five years ago I had a similar mess to clean up and I took a video of some of it to show how my manual feed chipper works if you are interested.

well, i must say, i was skeptical when i bought the pat's easy change. NO MORE! i'm totally sold on the thing. took less than 5 minutes to take the wc-68 off and put it back on. i can only hope that it'll hold up to the abuse of the box blade and tiller. pics to follow. tomorrow maybe.

They hold up, no worries. Been using them for years.

It is. Electric..... runs off of rear defog circuit (see my install posts). Just need a touch of stone dust to provide traction where needed. Easier than pto driven spreader and can use in any vehicle with trailer hitch.

14yo son and I got grandma's house and the farm yard mowed with ZD21 60" deck and ZD331 72" deck.

and I got a little mowing done in the lane across the east creek before it rains again.

got some of the deep ruts cleaned up Friday from previous rains with our new/used SVL75-3. we'll see what happens this week with more rain expected.

not terrible for my first time in the machine.

What I did off my Orange today. I ordered a replacement seatbelt for the B1700. Easy off easy and on. Decided to do a porter mortem on the original and this is what I found. Dirt had piled up in the mechanism preventing it from being pushed in far enough to unlatch. Used a pick and an air hose to blow it out and Bingo! Works like new. Off with the new and back on with the old. Time to do an Amazon return. The worst part was those stupid safety torx screws used to hold the cover on.

Worked on a dirt pad for a future smoker shed / outdoor kitchen. Got the pad rough finished and ran out of daylight and dirt. Will need fine tuning, but it is close.

Just finished my 3rd mow with the new Z452ikw zero turn. Man this thing is awesome. Finally feel more comfortable using it the machine, its way different than the old zero turn I had. It turns so much better and man is this thing FAST.

My old zero turn had a pivoting front axle which was nice, but I noticed pretty much all zero turns now are fixed casters, I wonder why? I'm three wheeling it sometimes hahahaha.

The cut quality is super nice, even tall grass it cuts even. Doesn't clump up even when the grass is damp. I did have to adjust the anti scalping wheels because the deck kept digging into the lawn certain areas but now that I adjusted those it will lift part of the deck up instead of becoming a dozer.

The comfort level though is miles high better. I no longer feel stiff after, my back does't feel weird and the best part is that I don't feel the needles poking me in my hands from the vibration. I mow about 6 acres weekly, sometimes more. But it's nice being able to mow approx 4 times without fueling up again. I had to fuel up every week with the old mower.

The con though is that I need to now build a bigger shed. I also cannot fit the mower in certain areas like I used to but that can be rectified easily, just need some time to make the paths a little wider. I'm not upset about the shed being too small, it's a PERFECT excuse to build a bigger one!!!

I had to do that with my L3010 belt too. I bought a new seat belt belt for dozer and 2 weeks later it was chewed in half by some critter. I guess it doesn't pay to get a new belt.
