even though I have plenty of fresh oil, I just noticed that the oil light is flickering, only at idle. Any ideas on what's up how to troubleshoot? Thanks!

At cold idle oil pressure should be through the roof. At hot idle it will be low pressure. If your oil pump is worn or pickup screen clogged hot idle could definitely be bordering on no oil pressure.
I would get a generic oil pressure gauge from the auto store an get a real reading first. Not really sure how accurate the light is. This will tell you if you have a real problem or if the sending unit may be bad.

Any recommendations for inexpensive Amazon parts to convert it from warning light to actual gauge?
Measure oil pressure. Whenever I see this on a machine that old I immediatly think engine bearings.

She's old, but I think she only has around 800 hours on her. Hopefully its not serious. I'm searching on eBay and amazon to see if I can find an actual gauge to install. If I can't find one I'll grab an pressure gauge from Harbor Freight and see what it is.
I too believe it's just the sending unit. Had the exact same symptom, replaced the sending unit and all was good again.

The sending unit is 1/8 BSPT most oil pressure gauges will come with the adapter for that thread.
Whenever i see this I immediately think the cam plug fell out. But it only was a problem on some engines.
