The door handle on my cabbed L5030 came loose yesterday, I took it apart and discovered it was broken inside ... I found a new outside handle https://www.messicks.com/parts/kubota/t0270-85102 but can't tell by the pictures if it includes what I need, I want to call them, but not sure what to ask ... Parts diagram doesn't show it listed separately.

I thought last night it was a "feral" (sp?) but now thinking it might be a "nut-sert"?

This one is loose ... I have both of the bolts that thread into these.

IMG_20260513_045209405~2.jpg

This one is missing and the housing is cracked ...

My first thought could be a rivet nut but probably not looking at the depth.

Im sure the nut experts will be here shortly

Looks like a pressed fit threaded insert. Odds are the plastic where it gets pressed into was fractured or broken either when it was pressed it or from a zillion uses( and nobody checked the retaining bolt for correct tightness ).
You could use the proper 'epoxy' to glue them back in, just be sure NOT to get any glue on the internal threads. Also, when installing the bolt, add a lock washer, check bolt every month or so.

Missing the second insert ... Just gonna buy a whole new handle ... I'll call and see it come with it installed?

Should in my opinion!

IMG_20260513_065245382~2.jpg

This is my temporary fix!

I'll be leaving out Friday morning again, so should have parts waiting when I get home next ...

The picture from Messicks sure looks like it comes as part of the handle assembly. It is likely either cast into the plastic or installed hot.

@Shawn T. W

The word you are trying to spell correctly is “ferrule”. “Feral” actually does apply since that describes something that is “in the wild state” like your missing part, but is usually used for domestic animals that are now wild. And the two words sound exactly the same.

Ferrules are generally not threaded but are smooth on the inside. Think about the metal things that are around the edges of tarps to tie them down, or the metal things you put in a loop of cable or rope to make the end loop stronger and easier to use.

What you are looking for is a press fit nut for plastic. I guess that ”threaded insert” is the generic term for them.

Like these:

I would be almost 100% positive that those would be installed in the part you purchased. You could purchase the insert and repair the existing part (as described above) but you might have trouble just buying one of the inserts. I believe that wood workers use similar things but they may not hold in plastic?

we call the rivet serts (or rivet nut) if they get compressed to hold in place (squished out of round) or nut serts if not squished instead glued or formed in place.

That looks like just a knurled threaded insert you could try and glue it back up and if you have room to build up the area around it to help stabilize it I did a repair on a plastic panel with coffee grinds and superglue worked surprisingly well

I added that right side handle (inner and outer) to the MX a couple of years ago. Definitely worth the cost at around $300.

It didn't come with it, or was it broken?

I'm guessing this is probably as good as time as any to add the window tint I have on that door ...
MX models have a steel plate on the right side door with no external access.

Oh, didn't know that ... Did it not have hinges either?

Just the outside part was $130 today
The door has hinges but Kubota elected not to provide an external door handle and only an internal handle so that you can exit if necessary. It's an easy fix but since an exterior and interior handle are are required it's a bit more expensive.

These are the parts I ordered for the upgrade:

Yup, came today!

How's that for service on parts for a 21 year old tractor! Ordered yesterday at 10:21, arrived today at 12:48!

I couldn't see them in the pictures, as they are black, I was looking for silver like the one I had, shown in the center ...

IMG_20260514_153046541~2.jpg

Even included a new lock, which I never use ... Actually forgot and left the keys in the ignition last night, I usually bring them in ...
