i have a Battery Tender and several Tender JRs. I use them on smaller batteries on my motorcycles, ATV's and lawnmowers to keep the batteries charged during the idle season. I also keep one on my Miata, which doesn't get used in the winter, and my Kubota when I expect it to be idle for more than a week. They all work fine and I believe that keeping the batteries charged extends their life. I originally bought the Tender for my motorcycle because it has an Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) battery and the tender was recommended to work properly with that type of battery.

I also have an old school Schumacher which has variable output levels, including starting amperage, but I don't use it to maintain a battery because it doesn't have the smarts to stop charging once the battery is fully charged.

Update. Noco replaced what turned out to be a defective Genius5. The old Noco battery load tester worked the last time used. First Noco Genius5 purchased for the BX last April hasn't had an issue. Why I purchased a 2nd Genius 5 for the truck. Noco warranty is for real. Another reason why I will stick with this brand.

I won't buy another Noco because they force you to buy $$$$ proprietary non-standard wiring harnesses. All other brands use standard SAE connectors

Yes, expensive if needed. Life would be nice if everyone would adopt a standard.

I like the function and features of the Genius5. Their spec claim seem to be true. "Smart" enough it doesn't over charge you battery. The video linked in an early post had some "interesting" chargers reviewed. Bit longer warranty than most. And more important is they seem to back their warranty v. just BS on paper.

With the first Noco Genius5 I was unaware that the alligator clips can easily be converted to eye connectors. Wasted money on purchasing a set of eye connectors. My fault. Product material notes that option. When I sent in the defective G5 they only wanted the charger. So now I have another extra set of cables and mounting bracket. Hopefully will never need to purchase any Noco connectors.

OT, I fly a variety of R/C platforms. Nothing standard when it comes to battery connectors. Soldering is a basic skill required to deal with the lack of standard connection. End up with a bin full of diy adapters. Cut, splice and solder..... Option to save $$$s instead of using or purchasing future Noco connectors.
