I’m beginning to understand why rich old retired people live in their northern home in the summer and their southern home in the winter. I’m retired. If I’m not old, I’m well on my way. The third qualification… I’m probably not going anywhere.
We always have had a significant number of people from FL living up here in their 2nd, 3rd, or whatever homes during the summer. Not necessary old (>60y/o). Now more and more people from the SW with seasonal homes. Blame them for yesterday's unusually hot day. Hit 90F at my place by late afternoon when the light wind switched from onshore to offshore and dropped to a light breeze at best . The RH was unusually high for this elevation above the Lake level at sunrise. At least it kept dropping as the temp kept rising. Down to more normal mid 40-50s by the time it was an oven. Guessing people from FL though it was wonderful day. I'll take a windless 0F day over a windless 90F.

'Bombcyclone' is always fantastic to hear....we're getting a blizzard, nor'easter or the like..I've found it's much easier to put a jacket on then take fat off !!!
As far as snow birds. We have several here locally. But. Last winter I see none left. I did run across one at dollar general last winter and ask about staying put. His reply was there's just to many people in Florida. I'd reather deal with the snow.

Set a new record this weekend. Two consecutive days of 90F or hotter. Died yesterday with the heat and humidity. Today, almost picture perfect chamber of tourism day. 82F and RH in the low 40s. People enjoying the beaches and chilling out in Lake Superior. Just no wind. Off and on very light breeze. Ideal for people fishing on Lake Superior. Just keep your marine radio on for sudden changes.
A few years ago I didn't. Broad reach heading home. Looked west toward land. Smoke on the water and a roar. Heave to, dropped the sail, last sail tie just on with a fraction of a moment to hook the life line tether in before experiencing a bare pole knock down. 2nd time in my life hit by a derecho on L. Superior. Not fun.

Our local TV station has had an "ALERT DAY!!" almost every day. Over the weekend an alert was issued and upon checking the details, found a slight chance of a thunderstorm.

Their news is often something that would pass for an old Saturday Night Live skit. It isn't unusual to read something on their website like "There was a collision East of York on Route 30 this morning. One or more people may have been injured. Check back for details".
