When I rebuilt my b7100 steering box I had to detach the drag link assy. I did that by sharp blows to the joint with a pair of hammers; it popped right off with no trouble. Reinstalling the drag link, I used a socket and a c-clamp to pull things together but I wondered at the time if it was...
