    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

Thanks guys! I was able to get all the parts cleaned and ready for powdercoating today. Even fought with a snapped bolt to round out the work  NC is still having nice days so trying to take advantage working the dirty stuff outside.

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

Thank you Russel! I've used EvapoRust for some time and I think it's great. I find that if I put small parts in a container with EvapoRust and then place the container into hot water, the heat makes it work faster. I use that technique with my Ultrasonic heater. I wish I'd known about products...

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY: Back with some info on the project. Unfortunately I was ill for a few days with a nasty stomach-thing. Wow! Here are a few pics of the completion thus far on the L35. The Rear Hub received 2 new studs. The old ones had a lot of thread ground off - I guess from bad...

    L35 fuel shutdown relay/timer, part#?

The Key Timer is located on the right side of the control panel behind the instrument panel. See the FIRST drawing - it is number 010. In the photo, it's location is shown by the arrow. Drawing 2 shows the panel When you say: " I'm unable to remove the instrument panel or plastic shroud"...

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

Ha! Thank you. OSPHO is a funny thing to use. It is so thin that a very little goes a long way. One thing i was told by the Ospho guy is to not get things dripping wet. A key step in the process is to have very clean metal. Any oil residue will cause an "orange peel" effect - like when painting...

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

Thanks Russel I purchased tires about 2 years ago in anticipation of this. Today i ordered rims from my fav dealer. When all said and done - no more worries about cracked rims and cracked tires!

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

Random thoughts: I thought that I'd use my front rims again after having them blasted. Sounds good on paper - as they say. Just for kicks I cut out the sidewall of one of the tires so I could see what there was to see. Wow! Those sidewalls are thick! The rubber is much tougher than a car...

    L35 - BT900 Backhoe Swing Overhaul

Good 'ole rust eh? Nice job on those! Something to consider depending upon what hose size you have on the swing cylinders is a large tie wrap. I used the kind for HVAC and fastened the hose to the cylinder to keep the hose fittings from getting loose due to the back and forth motion. I...

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

Ah! Well my intent isn't to leave the BH off all the time. Mainly it aggravated me that the release levers were rust frozen and thus a function didn't work. Also i couldn't get in between the BH and Tractor to complete the restoration. I also have an outdoor patio i'm building. Where i'm...

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

Well, I went back and read that again. They definitely say the ballast should be liquid. I desperately looked for an "out" but nope! I was hoping to use a ballast box in lieu of swapping liquid. Your point is a good one; " Don't follow would be at owners own risk I suppose. "

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

Hmmm, i don't think i'll be swapping ballast in and out- what the heck was Kubota thinking when they wrote that!?

Rear tire fill - your thoughts appreciated

Thanks for taking time to review/comment. I hadn't thought about alcohol evaporating and the water rusting things. I've got new wheels and tires !! The Calcium chloride thats in there now was there when i purchased the machine. Don't want to use that.

    L35 - BT900 Separation and Derusting

CONTINUING....... Here are a couple of pictures from the latest work on the L35: I won't bore you with pictures of the painting action - just a few pictures from the now-completed frame. I think I'll give my back an extra day to recover, then I'll start putting the tractor back together...
