What kind of jumper pack are you using? I've seen some of the fancy new ones default off when they don't see any voltage. Get a set of jumper cables and attach to your pickup.

The angle of the compound looks wrong to me. It appears yours is closer to being perpendicular to the cross slide when it should be closer to parallel when set to the 29.5 degrees everyone uses.

Since the use time for the machine is limited to the spring, I'd say you likely have some bad DEF from sitting. Drain the DEF tank, add some fresh stuff and go work the machine. If the skid will sit over the winter, I'd do it again just before use.

Loosen this fitting, then grab the hose and twist so it follows closer to the other one, then tighten fitting....is what he is trying to explain. You could probably get it to move by disconnecting it from the tractor, twisting and reinstalling.
