I'm located in Hurst, closer to Carbondale, but I work in Marion. I've been thru creal a few times. Have you heard of the corn field lounge?

I find that if i leave a little layer snow on the gravel it's better. Do you use the float while backing up with the FEL? It seems to work good for me.
Nope...what is corn field lounge?

Yes, I found I needed to leave a little snow on the gravel. I tried float...going forward...did not work, dug in. I don't think I tried float going backwards. My best technique was to keep the bucket tilted back just off level and put flat on the snow...then just up a little. That avoided digging in. I'll try and remember using float backing up next time. These kind of snows keep up, might want to get a plow.

I went to high school at Carterville, then had a work career, that took me all over. In retirement, wife wanted to return where family was...so....here we are.

The corn field lounge is the VFW in creal. It's called that because its in the middle of no where.

I actually know quite a few people from Carterville and I'm known to have an after work beverage at the pin oak on occasion.

I use a 6 ft blade on the back and mostly back up when using the FEL in the snow.

21 F degrees and snowing. Was 14 yesterday. Hoping it doesn't turn to freezing rain like they talk. Have my B2920 all fueled up, chains on and bucket with 60" rear blade for snow removal. Farmall H hooked up to the pto generator if power goes out.

Last several days it's been in the single digits during the night, and even though we have a woodstove that's cranked up to 80 in the house, we've been feeling cold, and I couldn't figure out why until I noticed this evening that the humidity in the house is down to 40%. It's amazing how the humidity level affects how the temperature feels.

I think a flock of pigeons farted as they flew by. Just enough white to cover the grass. 25f right now but supposed to hit the deep freeze in a day or two.

I have a buddy in central Florida who is still running air conditioning!

Almost a week here of way below normal temps.

We are burning a lot of wood in the stoves!

That's funny you say that, I have a friend down around Orlando that's
from Southern Illinois. I sent him a pic of his parents driveway that I cleaned the snow out of for them last week. He said he used to miss the winters when he first moved down there but it was 84 degrees and it was getting easier not to miss it.

I believe they are calling for 2 degrees as the low here tomorrow, we certainly have had below normal temps so far this winter, maybe spring will come early.
