Hey All, need some help! my hydraulic pump is working fine, problem is that the small rubber hose between the pump and tank is collapsing due to low flow of oil, causing the pump to cavitate, I don't think I have a screen on this model, oil level is good as per sight glass, screw on filter and oil is brand new just changed out, must be a vent or valve problem any help or ideas would be appreciated, don't really want to load the tractor up and take it to the dealer if I can fix the problem myself

thanks in advance
steve

Would it be possible to post a photo of this hose you're talking about. I looked at mine and the only rubber hoses I have are for the loader, I think:confused: Just trying to figure out your diagnoses to see if I can help in some way.

Could also be the hose itself is giving out. Rubber hose will eventually over time break down and become soft enough that it can collapse internally. I would consider draining the oil and pulling the hose off to exam it and check the opening into the tank to make sure something isn't blocking it.

Hope ya didn't use some cheap oil?

Rubber hose between pump and tank? The only rubber hose I can think of is a rather large hose between filter and pump, up near the brake peddle.

Pictures, pictures, pictures! :)

What type and/or brand of hydralic fluid did you use, there are several differnt weights, and using to thick of one can cause those problems.

Simple check to see if it's a vent problem, while the tractor is running remove the fill cap on the hydralic and if the hose pops back into shape then you know you have a pluged vent.

Hopefully the oil was UDT.

Good call on checking the vent problem. Vent is a question mark shaped ruber thing under the seat on the left side.

The oil is a Case UDT oil sold to me by the dealer, I have checked the vent tube, all is ok there............the guy I had bought the tractor from had a heavy weight oil in there instead of UDT, so I changed it out, I have about 10 hrs on the unit since change out............my question is...could there be a reaction between the oils that has prematurely blocked the filter?

Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming lol

6" of snow in the drive way I have got to blow it soon!

I don't think it's any reaction to deal with.

Did you try running it and pulling the fill plug to see if the hose pops back into shape?

The only other thing I can think of would be the hose that you put on is bad.

Post a picture of it.;)

What kind of rubber hose did you use? If it is not hydraulic suction hose that could be the troubles. Hoses like radiator and heater hose don't tolerate oil all that well.

I had the same problem! The filter was clogging up with a slime ( moisture causes the slime) causing the inlet hose to collapse. Drained fluid and flushed out the bowls on the rear axle with diesel using a battery filler bulb...

Changed fluid problem solved... Make sure you drain the axle when changing hydraulic fluid, the slime will settle in the axle and came out when moving and clog your filter again..
