We have been shopping for a year now for our first tractor to tame our wilderness here in North Florida. It's been fun reading over the comments here and thanks for all the advice. I finally decided that since we are going to own this orange tractor for a long time I should pony up and join the forum. Thank you to the administrators for putting this together.

We have owned what we call the "Promise Land" for several years now and have kept coming up with things to do out here to make it a land of milk and honey, but it all kept coming back to "we'll need a tractor for that". That lead us to joke that "everything starts with a tractor". We've been using that slogan for about two years now.

Well, I'll be leaving in about an hour to go fetch my brand new Orange Tractor, and the safari will begin. I can't WAIT!!:D

I guess I was thinking faster than I was writing or was just having a Brain Cramp. Besides, it is no fun if you do everything right.

Congratulations on your new tractor; sure makes getting the work done. I went a few years in between tractors and it sure was tough going.

Would love to see pictures of your tractor and property.

Congratulations!

Be sure to wax it good when you get home with it and put a blanket over it at night so it doesn't get dusty. Take pictures.

You're going to love this tractor.

Thanks for all the interest in the new member of our family!! Sorry for the delay in posting the "Tractor Porn" for you everyone. I rode around on the thing so long yesterday my but was sore!! I wanted to eat my lunch on it, but it wasn't really practical... lol

I think I'm in love!!!

The dealer was going to deliver it, but it just felt wrong to not go fetch it myself, so here we are loading it up at the dealership and offloading it at our property. The guy on the left was driving buy and saw me loading it and turned around to watch and ask about how I got the grapple for it.

Well, Okay..... having trouble figuring out how to upload the pics...... Okay I think that worked. Should be 4 pictures attached..

Oh, I forgot to mention that the bush hog is coming next week. The dealer was really pushing me to take one of the LP 1860's that he had sitting on the lot, but I really liked the LP 2060 and in the end..... the customer is always right..... lol

I had him order up one for me but I didn't want to wait till next week start loving on the tractor.

I purposely had the smallest grapple fabricated, knowing it was going to be heavy, but I just didn't know how big it really would be when it came. It works fine, but it really needs the counter weight of the mower.... I kept bouncing the back tires while I was learning the controls.

I had another dealer offer me a 60" grapple.... this one is 54" and I just can't imagine using anything larger than what I that.

If my measurements are correct, the tractor and bush hog will have about 2" of clearance when I fold up the tailgate on the 16' trailer. I'll have to lay the loader up on the headrest like in the pictures and fold up the tail wheel on the mower to do it, but that seems pretty easy.

Nice!

I would have got Ag tires on it, but maybe the R-4s' will do good in the sand?
Yeah, we (my wife and I) debated about which tires to get but in the end chose the R4's. I hope it wasn't a mistake. Time will tell...

You really need more than the weight of a mower on the 3pt hitch for loader work. I like 800-1200 lbs and something smaller than a mower. The counter weight will take considerable weight off the front axle and just make the tractor work better.

I had 10 acres south of Tallahassee many years ago and a Kubota L245. Ag tires worked great down there in the sand. R-4s weren't an option back then.

Your R-4s' do have a wider foot print, so they should do good, as long as you don't have much mud.

Industrials should be fine, we use Ag and Industrial unless you are pulling in loose soil or mud.

I like my new l3200 (same tractor, 6 less HP). You absolutely need at least 500lbs on the back. I always keep my 550lbs box blade there. It was pretty "exciting" trying to pull fence posts with a 200lbs post hole digger on the back, but I was expecting things & went really slow so I could stop as soon as rear tires started lifting.

I'm planning on loading the rears soon, New dealer just got the fluid & pumps for it.

My R4s were doing fine for traction digging out the back of my barn. However the side where the water from the roof drains is proving a little more challenging. Loading the tires will help a bit though. As the R4s tear up my yard a bit, I think they ended up being a good compromise between traction of R1s & not completely destroying my yard.
