Mower deck is off, so we head toward winter mode.

Got it done yesterday. Dumped the trans, front axle, motor oil (also done at 22 hours). SUDT2, Rotella 15-40, Kubota filters. Bolts, air filter, etc. checked. Chains are on, and did last mowing with them on.

My BX2360 was "new" in April, but as a leftover model, figured best to dump everything, since that tractor may have set on a sales lot for quite a while. Didn't want to go into winter with moisture in the hydraulic system.

For those that ask/complain about the hydrostatic whine; I'm surprised how much quieter my tractor is after the HST fluid change.

Haven't mocked up snowblower install yet - that'll be first try. After that proves OK, it will come back off for the loader until snow flies.

May go to 5- or 10-40 synthetic motor oil this winter. No sure how 15-40 will turn over when it gets real cold. We have "lake effect" snow here occasionally. Hits Syracuse area big-time. Snows big when there is a cold hard north wind.

5 tons of wood pellets in the garage - sign of the season!

Skeets - had to go buy a metric socket big enough for the HST drain plug - I'm used to SAE working on the Harley!

Sounds like you are well prepared for winter and very thorough in your preparations. I'll say that I tended to do things a little overkill before 50 hrs but now I'm at almost 130 and just following the manual. I think these machines are well built and don't need to be babied. That said, it makes me feel good to take care of my baby. My BX25 was new in May 2013.

New member about to do a 50 hour service on my B3300SU. I understand that as a hydrostatic drive it has one reservoir that works for both transmission and front loader hydraulic? Or is there a separate reservoir for Trans and Hydraulic?

No all Hydraulic fluid and reservoirs are shared between all systems besides the front axle.

I'm coming up on my 50 hr, which I plan to do myself. Since the hydraulics use the same fluid at the transmission, what about all the fluid in the actuators? Does one have to be concerned about leaving that behind? Or is it a small enough amount compared to the rest of the system that it doesn't matter?

You can get it all out if you're feeling up to completely disassembling them and all of the hoses...and while you're at it, remove/disassemble the transmission cases and get all the residual out of them too. That's the only way to get it all.

Or do like most do....drain/refill normally and go one with life.
