this is just a factory level indicator..... I am sure you could fix something up along this line

Check out some other makes. My blue tractor has a rod inside a tube. The tube is hinged to the support arm at upper end and the and rod is hinged to the bucket. An easy fix with a little welding. That end of rod and tube is at a good height. When rod end is flush with the tube end, the bucket is level. Works good at night.

No one pointed out the the sliding tube indicators and others with the same type of linkage only indicate level when the bucket is on the ground. If you are going to put on forks and move material off vehicles or in and out of elevated storage the level indicator will not indicate level.

Quite true but a level at all heights indicator sure steps up the complexity of a simple indicator. It would be great if they made a remote read wireless level.

The hood isn't in the way a few feet off the ground.

Maybe someone should come up with a wireless system, but it would have to be a rugged sensor that could be mounted on the back of the bucket and calibrated for various bucket designs. I search a little bit and found sensors but not a complete system. Seems like something like that would also come in handy in construction.

Kubota did offer a indicator kit for the LA524. Do not know the part number but my dealer wanted 60.00 if I remember correct. Was considering one for dad's L3800.

The only thing is the warning.

"Please Note - The sensor must not be subjected to harsh vibration. Protect sensor from coolant and moisture ingress"

Lots of vibration and moisture ingress?

Plus it's not wireless. I think you could probably find a wired version that would work, but that wire might have a short life.

My LA302 came with that indicator on the bucket which I consider to be almost worthless with the bucket and totally worthless with forks. I built a mechanical level indicator several years ago that shows both level at ground level and at the current height.
The link going forward connects to the bucket and rotates the scale. The link going backward connects to the frame and move the inner indicator. The outer indicator is fixed.

I think I may have an idea for an indicator that is simple and useful at all heights. I'm still drawing up, and it will only have to be slightly modified for each application. Let me draw it up and then I'll share it here.

Sounds good, would be a nice addition to the machine

If you can see level at all or most below hood line it would make for more efficient use. I have a few $$ for a purchase.

You'd think a basic bubble level would work, just large enough to easily be viewed from the seat.
However, level is a relative thing. Leveling out rut on a hill is a different kind of level. Then you must want the level to be relative to the angle of the hill (which may or may not be the same as the front to back axle line.)
A digital one, where you could select from a level position in relation to the earth core itself and a relative level based on the angle the tractor is. I am a bit surprised when I Googled it, nothing showed.

Both "rod and tube" and "bubble level" types are useful depending on the job. There's a fundamental difference. "Bubble level" types put the bucket at "geographic level" and not parallel to the ground as William1 pointed out for work on non-level surfaces like hills. "Rod and tube" types position the bottom of the bucket (looseness in pivots notwithstanding) parallel to the plane of the tires, regardless of the slope. For scraping manure in the corral, I find the "rod and tube" best. But when I put forks on my bucket, the pallet I'm trying to move is usually level even when the tractor isn't. Then I want the forks to be "geographically level." I actually stuck a 2X4 in the socket of one of my bolt-on forks, then screwed an 18" piece of flat perforated garage door opener bracing loosely to the side of it. When the perforated metal piece hangs right in line with the edge of the 2X4, the forks are level. And the ugly 2X4 comes off with the forks, leaving me with a nice clean-looking bucket again. :)
