I would like to install a freeze plug heater in my L260 w/Z1300 Engine. The freeze plugs line up with the cylinders and I don't know if there is enough clearance to install a freeze plug heater. The freeze plug application references don't list the Z1300. I talked to the "KAT'S" people and they could not help.

Does anyone have experience installing a freeze plug heater on the Z1300 2 cylinder when the plug location coincides with the cylinder?

Thanks,
Kent

Unless you're sold on the freeze-plug type heater for some reason my suggestion is to go with the KATS lower radiator hose-type insert heater.

There are other brands that cross-reference at some parts houses but they are not the same (less wattage, less robust).

We're using four of these heaters and find they work just fine. Someday when they die they'll be easier to replace than a plug-type.

In either case you can use a timer or on coldest nights leave it plugged in or from about 50-F down to 32-F about three or four hours should work. You'll see a huge difference in starting and be easier on GPs, battery, starter, entire system.

Stay away from dipstick and oil pan magnetic type heaters.

We think the radiator hose insert type is the only way to go.

Please post back with how you proceed so we may all learn.

Hey there, do you have a part number and where I could get the inline heaters you are talking about here?
