I have the 60" MMM for a B2920. I know there used to be a zerk on the tension pulley, but it is missing. Does anyone know what the thread size is on that puppy? It's much larger than the others on the deck. The manual confirms a fitting should be there, but apparently it came loose. I need to replace it. Thanks.

You can get it from the Kubota Dealer. See the attached.

Got it from the Kubota website - illustrated parts list. search for your tractor model (l2950) and then select the LOCAL OPTIONS next to the tractor model number. Your mower and all other accessories will show up with parts lists.

Hi Papa, there are really only two common sizes of grease zerks (that I know of) I'm not sure the tap size of the smaller one. The one you're refering two is the larger which is 1/8" pipe thread. Eric is right just by a kit with different sizes and angles. Hope this was of some help Barry

Except for the fact there is also Metric grease fittings. Seeing how we are talking Kubota where almost everything is metric, then the grease fittings are most likely metric.

Another poster just within the last few days described how his pressed-in zerks came out stuck in the grease gun nozzle when he greased. I have also had pressed in fittings pop out from grease pressure beneath them.

Grease fittings are bolt thread sizes and 1/8-inch NPT pipe. And metric sizes along with 1/8-in BST British pipe. Refer to Alemite or Lincoln catalog online for sizes, data, and general info.

Clean the fitting hole really well (dental pick, Q-tips, solvent, flashlight) and make certain you have threads and then try known thread sizes--using a selection of zerks--until you get a fit. Don't booger the threads. If you snug it in and holds when grease applied it's the right thread.

If is a pressed zerk, you probably won't get a replacement to hold. You need grease. Start thinking about disassembly and tapping the hole. If you tap without taking the mechanism apart you will probably introduce metal flakes deeper into the hole around the bearing / shaft and make your problem worse.

I have reinstalled a press-fit zerk by using a tiny chisel and slightly deforming the internal lip with a burr that would hold inside the hole. Never liked doing it but sometimes seemed the only reasonable way. Much better to thread the hole.

Press-in type zerks come in two varieties: (1) pop right out and (2) can't ever get out.

Good luck and please post back with your experiences so we may all learn.

It was a metric threaded 45 degree fitting. I used the Kubota illustrated parts list (thanks for the link...that thing is awesome) and called my dealer. They get $3.50 a piece for them, so I'll take the fitting to a parts shop and get an assortment for future use since they should only cost about $1.50 each. I'll let you all know what size it is once I pick up the fitting. Thanks for the tips.

EDIT: It's a 8mm 45 degree grease fitting...in case anyone needs to know. Thanks again.

BTW, my dealer is Bobcat of Rockford and I have to say they are top-notch A #1 when it comes to service.
