Picked up a used 97-2 a couple weeks ago. Just completed a full service on it, when changing out the final drive oil I found that both sides were solid sludge.
I was able to full/flush them 4x so they came out nice and clean... on my last runaround the property moving some dirt and rock to warm up the oil... i go down to swap the oil again and find smoke coming out of the back of the track (see photo to where i'm pointing).
Now this thing had to have been used to mulch, non-stop, for 3 years. There was wood chips EVERYWHERE packed into everything, hard. I thoroughly cleaned everything except for the track area. I'm not sure how to get in there to clean anything... I can only assume it's packed with mulch like everything else was, got hot, and started smoking?
Or could it be something else smoking from that area? You can't see it in the photo but it was piping out horizontally from the cover.
