I haven't studied the system but in addition to removing the filter it should be as simple as replacing the before and after sensors with simulators to keep the ECU happy.

Diy kits seeming to be more common every week. I see them all the time for between $1 and $2k i guess depending on quality of components and who's actually selling it. I've got a concern if you buy it from a less than reputable source and it don't do the wook as promised then the solution to correct is probably not very attractive.

i wouldnt mess with it if your not having a current issue. i have been running a l5p duramax 2021 purchased new just around 135k miles with no def dpf issues. but i use it for its intended purpose of towing. my tractor is almost 300 hours and has gone through many regens with no issues.

i wouldnt consider deleting just for the sake of deleting. if your having ongoing issues then sure it can be a thing at that point

if it aint broke dont fix it.

Although I tend to agree, there is that saying,

“The first race car parts were made about 4 minutes after the second car was built!"

Some people just like tinkering/modifying/customizing stuff…..even if it’s for "no good reason".

As a matter of fact, I “know a guy” like that ;) 🤔

Don’t have any experience deleting stuff….. but I wonder if indeed, the DPF sensors are not much more than differential pressure sensors…. and, if so, …. then removing them from the old DPF and sticking them back into the circuit wouldn’t fool the ECM or UNIVAC or CRAY ….or whatever Gates and Dell have contrived…. into believing things are hunky-dory...?

(I.E., ..”Gut” the DPF and don’t disturb the sensors.)

(my M4700DT may be ”old” ..(ca 1996)… but it ain’t got no filters except the intake, fuel, hyd’s and oil, Thanks to my good luck finding it lightly used 8 yrs ago)

I wouldn't "gut" the existing filter in fear if having to undo and put it back in. Remember catalytic converter test tubes? What you would want ideally is a tube or muffler that will bolt on in place of the existing filter. You may need or want a muffler in place of the filter.

Sensor wise I suspect it measures pressure before and after the filter via a voltage or resistance value. The values should be near equal until the filter starts to restrict flow due to buildup. Whatever resistance you measure on the before sensor should in theory work in both places to tell the ECU no regen is needed. This assumes it isn't also determined on a timer.

DPFs are very expensive. Unless there is a big change that allows a secondary market to delete the tractors in the US like some Provinces in Canada, just say no.

Fwiw, other tuning has to occur to add significant power. Just removing the DPF won't make much of a difference.

If you are having issues with your DPF as in regeneration too much etc, learn more about how to run the tractor to minimize the issue.

Leave it alone.
To delete anything emissions related, imho, is a snowball effect for problems.
If you don't want it, you should have bought an older tractor.

How many have you deleted? Most of the time it’s the actual emissions components that cause problems. If they are not there they cannot cause a problem.

Not everyone wants a 47 year old tractor.
