WARNING: new guy rant. (and y'all have heard it before...). Got mine late last fall. In the meantime, I was seeing varous posts about how awful lthat bottom filter is on the BX series. Well, I can tell you today that you were all wrong--it's worse, much worse. I'm bettin' the dude who designed that isn't gonna' be splittn' the atom anytime soon. In fact, I'd venture to wage that he/she ain't betting that a Nobel Peace Price might be in the works either---ever. The good news? I wrestled that thing off, and I never have to go through that again. Got that Botaproducts water-separator filter thing goin' on. Also, got those CUT24 skids from Rob over at ArmorSkids--ain't cheap, but it beats heck outta' sweating the gravel driveway waitin' to destroy the impeller, gear box, and chains on the snowblower. Up in the U.P., with the snow effect off of Lake Superior, I figure they are wiser investments. Thanks for listening.

First off, thank you for the reply. Thanks for the advice with the washers. I have taken the two pulleys apart 5 times to see what I might have missed, or did wrong. I measured the washers from the Kubota parts illustration to make sure I have been putting the right washers where they need to be...

No doubt. The way I see it, just as long as it isn't the guy who decides what's on television. Although, it sometimes seems that way.
Lived with mine for four years (about 350 hours) before moving it up next to the secondary filter. Couple feet of hose, some shut off valves, no water separator, just the stock filters. Cheap and easy - like me!

What is so hard about changing that simple little in-line filter????????
13 hours. After the first winter, I concluded the above-mentioned mods were good ideas.
I,ve got just over 800 hours on my BX2370, and have never had an issue with the filters. Why would you bother changing yours so soon with only 13 hours on it ? Boredom is a terrible thing.
Simple: the water-separator is a necessity in the upper Midwest, IMO. Gummed up and frozen filters don't cut it at -20F. Basically prophylaxsis so I'm not diddling with it in the midst of snow dump. Of course, now that I have it, it won't snow up here for the next 10 years.
I'm sure you already know living in the U.P. but I'll say it anyways - use an anti-gel treatment for winter months. A water separator won't stop diesel from gelling up. Nothing puts the FU in FUN more than being out in -15 temps with a -25 wind chill, tarp over the tractor, salamander heater under the tarp thawing out the fuel lines. Good times all around! I now keep the tractor in the garage after that day.
Yep, I do use Howes, and it works fine. I have a block heater in it, and run it about 1 1/2 hours before go time. Also, I heat the shop for 24 hours or so before hand (diesel heater thingee). A man has to have his pleasures says I.
A K dealer mechanic, when I first bought it, said to NOT use such anti-gels--he said it would gum up the fuel lines. I reckon maybe he needs more business or such. I've had zero problems using it. ANd even if it did, easy enough to blow out the lines. Stay well....

PowerService winter version cetane booster and anti-gel. +25 years of zero gel issues or gummed up fuel lines that effected performance. . Friend who use to be a long haul trucker recommended it when I purchased my first tractor in '01 or '00. Guessing millions, billions of gallons of diesel fuel treated with it. Gummed up fuel lines? Haven't heard of any such issues with this specific product. Also, the Mr Funnel type of filter to remove most if not all materials including water when filling the tank. Do not to open the fuel cap unless topping off the fuel tank to reduce inflow of moist air that might condensate as water in the tank.
Considering trying PowerService Clean Diesel as a preventive measure. Southshore L. Superior snowbelt, but warming winters and drought conditions year round has resulted in less and less snowfall. 376cm last season. Plus couple inches of rain,sleet, ice mix. Down to less than a 80hrs of annual run time. Fuel sits for a long time v. needing refueling on a regular basis. Just snow removal, road grading, trail maintenance and hauling firewood. Why I downsized to a BX. Turns out a good choice considering the price of diesel. BX just sips vs. gulps fuel.

Inline system with a clear canister where the fuel filter sits. Couple valves to isolate it when needing to change the filter and trap at the bottom. Looks like a miniature version of my inline home well water filter.

OT: How do you purge the air out of the stock setup after changing filters. With my old NH their was a purge "valve" that you just opened until fuel flowed out of it. I guess I could look at the owner's manual, but any inside tips would be appreciated .

Allegedly, the BX series are self-priming. Otherwise, there's bleeder valve you can crack, turn the key on, here the pump clacking, and then wait til you have a steady stream then reseat the valve. For the water-filter separator, I tried the auto-priming this way: set the key to "on" for 30 seconds. Double check that the sediment bowl is clear. Fired up instantly, so, I guess that works. Otherwise, I'd use the bleeder valve
Thx for the input. Gonna' look up that cetane booster, and, yea, the stock fuel filter design on the BX series is a well-discussed issue. Best....D
