Maybe the new version is more invasive. Just last week I was looking at the internet looking for ideas to release the blood under my smashed thumb. My wife came into the room and we began talking about different ideas to a solution. Literally within seconds her phone said, "Don't do that,,,," and began telling us how to treat it.
Not sure what to tell you about that. I would probably get rid of it if it is randomly inviting itself into conversations without being asked a question!!!!!!!

Who cares about the Chinese. They are not on our land with guns ready to use that info against us.
They are probably spying on us to get ideas on what else they can sell to us really cheap. :ROFLMAO:

With Alexa, you can tell it not to listen unless you use the 'wake word'. Theoretically, then it only responds to your query, ie, 'Hey Alexa, play Jimi Hendrix'. It should not respond to 'Hey honey, where is my butt scratcher'.
If you do not tell it to only listen for the 'wake word' it listens to everything. I believe you can also set this in the app (I'm too lazy to look).
However, anything that has a camera.... black electrical tape or a hood over it! I do not want to be on 'The Horrors of OnlyFans'.

How does it hear the "wake word" if it's not listening to everything?

The real question should be. Is it RECORDING everything? or, WHO is listening?

Internal hardware and software 'supposedly' only turns on connectivity when it hears 'Hey Alexa'. Akin to switching it on. Once given an instruction, it 'shuts off' until it is switched on again. If you know how your router and WiFi work, you can see when it transmits and receives.

And there are the key words in the video "... very respectful with the privacy"... "not a money grab"... but the fines are increasing from $100 to $250
And its going to be used to to "help the people", ie. fix pot holes, right after it's primary mission to fine the $h!t out of them

With the artificial intelligence, it will be that or this. Here is an example of the latter from the ISS from 7 years ago at the 4 min mark.
