The cylinder I used to make my thumb hydraulic was one of their brand and I have bought several others for angling my back blade etc.

I guess i'm stuck on the 8" stroke being perfect amount needed and by extending the overall length to fit between the linkage bolts. No need to worry about linkage getting stressed because the cylinder reaches its end of stoke both ways.
That is how I made my non weather proof linear actuator work was by extending the ends. The new one I ordered is supposed to be waterproof 8" stroke and I will reuse my hemi ends. The hemi ends come with adjustable right and left hand collars for mounting to fine tune the length.

I know, here bill goes off topic again,
When I made my thumb hydraulic I found an almost perfect cylinder there. It had side ports with the right pin bores and the rod end was a perfect fit at about 1-1/2 wide.
The base end was narrow so I welded a couple shaft collars on and the machined them down for a good fit.
But also to get the cylinder and thumb to tuck up out of the way I welded a plug in the base end hole and re drilled it a fraction of an inch off the original closed length.
For that I could have cut off the BH77 mount and moved that instead. The re boring made sense at the time.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the cheaper selector valve. BUT, before you make a decision figure out all your port sizes and make sure adaptors are available to connect the hoses. Consider if you will want 90 degree adaptors or straight. Like I said, the cheaper ones come with #10 SAE ports or 1/2" BSPP. You will probably want to adapt to 1/4" JIC if possible. You're probably going to have at least $300 invested in this project if you go hydraulic.

Any hydraulic setup takes hours of figuring out to make sure all the pieces of the puzzle will fit.

This is why the linear actuator makes more sense in my opinion. The one I linked to in post #34 is IP54 which isn't water proof but should be okay if the tractor is stored in a barn. You could probably put it in a piece of PVC pipe to further protect it. It even comes with the directional switch. You just have to figure out where to mount the switch and get a 5 amp power to it.

Here is the linear actuator I picked up to do the same thing on my MX6000, still figuring out the mounting plates... I just do not have the wherewithall to do hydraulics but my bobcat skid steer has hydraulic QC and I like it, not very fast, likely the same speed as the actuator will be...

I am going to order the cylinder posted above and the “El Cheapo” 60 dollar diverter…If it craps out I will get a better one….Seems like a small risk in the scheme of things….

Once I get it, I will "fab up" some new handles, or, as I type this I am thinking maybe just modifying the exising ones….still undecided.

However, I know I am going to go the “hydraulic route”

yeah, I tried a linear actuator knowing they are slow, though if you buy $$$$ones they are faster, still slower than getting out and moving the handles though. I did get faster speed by using a 'boost convertor' that converts 12 volts to 30..still not fast enough . Hydraulics are easier to get speed...but $$ for 3rd fnx/plumbing.

The OD for the cylinder is 1-3/8 according to their drawing. I ordered a couple double split shaft collars
My idea is to make the extension mount at the swivel and go past then use a shaft collar and weld to that to keep it in line. This would make it removable and no welding on the cylinder itself.
The other end is going to get one of the hemi ends for fine tuning.

I will post a picture once I start cutting pieces and welding.

Bad news to report on my cylinder choice.
The swivel end is about 1" from edge to bolt center.
The distance on the existing area where I installed the linear actuator with the hemi ends is about 3/4".
So some grinding on the end or the SSQA is going to be required or an adaption of some sort on both ends.
Thought I would make it known before others order this style cylinder.
Going to look at alternative attachment point to the levers to see if I can make the 8" stroke work.

My brakes started grinding yesterday, so there was no way I was going to pull anything home…..

The up side to this is that I was able to successfully drive home (about 300 miles) and only hit the brakes once….. by “judicious shifting” practices.

I do all my own auto repair work. I put up a shop 23 years ago with a lift. One of the best investments I ever made was the lift.
My 2006 Silverado 2500hd started making the front brakes shaking back thru the steering trick this spring.
It has about 240k on it and I had done pads and rotors last year. So suspecting calipers I ordered everything including new hoses from Rockauto.
The moral of this story I guess is even though I have a lift I reverted back to my old ways and did it in the driveway, putting the front on jack stands.
I have a lot of things going on with wifes health and figured I might get started and then not get it finished in a day or so and I didn't want it tying up the lift. Wound up being several nice days in the sun!
It was a flashback to the days of crawling under to do all those things in a gravel driveway but I still love wrenching!

Made some progress on mounting that cylinder yesterday.
All except what to grind on the rod end.
I will take some couple pictures and post them when I get a minute.
I did find that cylinder eye is 1" thru so I picked up a couple M12-1.25 x 45 bolts so a little more thread is going into the linkage. I could only find 8.8 locally. I think I will try to find a couple heavy grade on line.

My brother lives in Buffalo about 3 and a half hrs away and stopping by today so not much tractor stuff getting done. A little tinkering on our late life crisis cars and a beer or maybe two and lunch!
Mines a 2006 red Miata, his is a 2008 banana yellow Solstice.
