Hello, new to the site so thanks in advance!. My dad has a B2620 with a 60" deck under it and last weekend mowing it just stopped moving and pto does not work either. I believe the ball coupling area is the problem. This unit is well maintained with about 3000 hrs and never done more than mow and sometimes runs a hay elevator . The HST fluid has changed recently and filters every spring with Kubota fluid and filters. I am just wonder where to start diagnosing? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks BW

Start at the most obvious place. Check the HST fluid level and be sure that you have enough fluid in it. Then check the filter to see if it is clogged. Give us more information on what the first symptoms were before it quit moving. But first check that fluid level. If it is low on fluid that would cause both symptoms that you mentioned.

Go to Kubotabooks dot com and see if they have a work shop manual (WSM) for it that will provide troubleshooting steps.

Good luck with repairs and please post back for more assistance and to tell us what the problem was with your tractor.

Fluids are good and clean. It just stopped moving all at once, you can hear something grinding so that why i am thinking the ball coupling.

Good luck but I know nothing about your tractor except that it does sound like a problem between the engine output and the transmission to me. There may be some sheared roll pin at a coupler?

Take a paint pen and mark the splined shafts on the ball couples. Start the engine. As soon as you hear the noise, shut the engine off and check your marks. I think you will find that one set of marks is no longer lined up.

Thanks for the tip. I am still waiting on the book so i can figure out how to access the couplings.

Is the failure typicslly on the shaft or coupler?

If the coupler has failed any suggestions on finding replacements?
