Well she is back home. Mowed the lawn, twice and had zero issues. So it really was just bad gas. I mean it's a relief. Glad that's all what it was and nothing bad. My back lawn was over 12" tall and it mowed through like nothing. My old lawn mower would have stalled.

I suggest that you use non-ethanol fuel in it since it will sit for some time between use. I used to have a lot of trouble getting small gas engines to run well and switched to non-ethanol fuel and all problems have gone away. There are a few stations that offer it at a few pumps, but you have to find them.

We could use that popcorn machine in some of these threads! Nothing quite like the pop of brand new Kubota orange. Even that Gatorade truck seems to have the right idea. :)

Did you see any L70 tractors? I'd be curious as to your thoughts on those.
did not notice any L70’s. I did see an M5-?? sitting beside the M7060…. WOW, such a big difference!

it runs fine on regular gas. Just had bad gas for whatever reason. I will see if it happens again, it’s very costly to go an hour out of my way for non ethanol.

I can get non-ethanol gas in my area now, but couldn’t for several years. Got in the habit of using Stabil ethanol treatment and stabilizer in all my small engine gas regardless whether it was for immediate use or long term storage. Been doing that for a little over 30 years and so far have had zero fuel related issues.

Had you stored the fuel in a can for a long time before you used it in the mower?

If the fuel is in the tank for a long time (more than 3-6 months) you can use a fuel stabiliser for the ethanol. Since there is only 10% ethanol fuel available in Ireland I have to revert to this method for storage over the winter. And fill the tank to the top for storage over to minimise moisture building up, despite what one member (that must be bad at maths) is saying about this subject.

There are people that drain the fuel system completely over the winter, but this can create problems with rubber components. I prefer the stabiliser.

The dealership mentioned they should have drained the gas that was in there for a year haha. I always fill the tank up with fresh gas and used Stabil for winter storage. Never had a problem. So it’s possible it wasent my gas. Either way, glad to have the mower back.

Well, after several years of working on the farm, reclaiming the area that had been over taken, my wife and I now own the 40 acres of the family farm which includes the farm house that my grandfather built back in 1961. We moved in this weekend and have stuff piled every where and no idea where anything is. Still lots of work to be done, but the move has been made. We will work on getting our house ready to be sold and then we can focus on on the farm and the improvements we want to complete in the coming years. After 32 years of living in previous home, you can imagine we have accumulated a lot of stuff to be moved.

Looking forward to starting this new journey in our lives.

26 acres we rent out, which is the tillable ground. Eventually we want to turn it into pasture ground, but we have lots of other projects for right now. Just got the wife her new chicken coop and setting up her chicken area. We have an area selected for next year, we want to do some feeder pigs. If we can get everything setup, we will get four pigs to raise and then have them butchered.

Of course we have an area we are setting up for a garden and then we have about 9 acres of wooded area with a couple of sheds there that we haven't started working on yet. We have been working on cleaning out the tractor barn and plans are to eventually add a concrete floor to it.

So many projects, so little time.

I wasn't blown away by the difference between an M6060/M7060 and M5. The M5 is bigger for sure, but the difference between an MX and an M6060/M7060 is far more striking. I took these photos in Sheridan, WY the day I picked up my M6060. It was parked next to an M5-091. The taller tires of the M5 definitely make it look bigger, and I really like the look of the M5 hood.

The row of trees next to my driveway was planted as 2-3 foot seedlings harvested from a site clearing job 35 or so years ago. They've been VERY happy there, to the point that they've grown over half the driveway and are hanging out into the yard making it impossible to mow next to the fence which you can't see because the trees have overgrown it too. The entire property was fenced at one time when I had sheep and dogs. It was nice to let the dog out and not have to worry.

TOY.jpg

My new Milwaukee pole saw made short work of giving them a haircut (along with a few other trees on the property that were a pain to mow under) and the Trusty Cabota and the Landpride forks hauled them down to the back fence to add to the row of Critter Condos that has been growing there for 40 years.

Power washed the mmm on the B1700. Too much mud after the last 2 weeks trying to mow. Wife will never be able to tell where I did it!

Mowed the back area today. Found the first yellowjacket nest of the season. Only got stung seven times before I got away. I'll dump some diesel down the hole tonight.

Well I mowed the yard (raked and put the clippings in the new lasagna stall), dropped the deck / serviced it, then while deck off, hauled and put some home brew on the garden and then tilled it in, then put the deck back on. (I am so used to seeing the deck, It looks weird without it)

the older I get the more and more willing I am to bring in the BH and make enough room for a rear mower. I wonder if that MMM that i just had to have could be repurposed for some fish habitat or yard art🤠? (That fence and hillside is the primary reason for the MMM…it’s a real tight fit to get around the fence and into one of our gardens)

I had a busy day yesterday at the land with a good friend. He spent the day spot spraying woody invasive species. The targeted species was buckthorn, autumn olive, Japanese barberry and a few others.

While he cut and sprayed I was on the tractor grappling and moving them along with further ice storm cleanup.

I also swapped the box blade for the 6ft rotary cutter. Trail maintenance season is here!

The purple wildflowers are wild lupine which is a native plant here in Wi that is the sole host plant for the Fed endangered Karner Blue Butterfly which I have a sizable population. He is spot spraying small buckthorn plants that have popped up along the pine tree line.

Also got a picture of what I think is a Coopers hawk with a ground squirrel in its talons.

Another special native plant that popped up in a restored area of the oak/savanna. This one is a pink lady slipper orchid. Wi has I think 3 native orchids. White , yellow and pink lady slippers.
