BX25D PTO

I've never used the PTO on my tractor. So I thought I'd 'test it'. Rear,. both, center, engaged fine while sitting on the seat. I thought... the rear one is supposed to be able operate even if off the seat. As soon as I get up the tractor shuts down. I tried to get off the seat and then engage, shuts down. I assume (no service manual) there is a safety switch that 'knows' when only the rear is engaged and over rides the PTO operator presence. Is this correct logic? If so, I guess I need to access it and ensure it works/is activating. Helpful hints, Heloise?

I have no experience with your tractor but recall that the seat and rear PTO both have some switches.

So I recall reading that there are a few ways Kubota has taken care of the safety concerns of using the rear PTO when out of the seat.

1) Some tractors simply have a switch to activate to get out of the seat. I think this is only on larger tractors though.
2) Some tractors have a second seat switch that is activated by putting the seat in the up (storage) position. Before or after activating the rear PTO is what I can’t recall though.

So I guess you need to have the seat tilted forward and figure out when you need it to be forward when the rear PTO is engaged.

If you don’t have an over ride switch on the dash (unlikely) try locking the brakes, tilt the seat forward, and then engage the PTO. No guarantees…

I'm pretty sure.... I did have the parking brake locked, I think I may of even tried it with the trans in neutral.
I guess I need to... RTFM!!! or see if there is a failed/misadjusted switch.

The BX25D has two switches under the seat. This post in a thread of mine might be helpful.

Tomorrow,.... maybe i'll try but.... I'll do it how it makes sense. Raise and flip the seat BEFORE engaging the rear PTO.

Well, for starters, they are a tad illogical.
Also, I said in my first post, as soon as I got up with the PTO engaged, the tractor shut down.
The RTFM instructions say to engage the PTO, then get up and....(my tractor would shut down at this point). Instead, it makes a little sense to have to spin the seat around FIRST and then engage the rear PTO.
How would the tractor know your intention is to run the rear PTO simply by standing (or falling off) and how would it know you intend to eventually raise and flip the seat?
Seat flipped, it 'knows' you are not driving it and therefore might let the rear PTO run with no body on the seat. That makes sense to me.
Test in daylight. Off to bed.

On the L01 the seat switch is not a shutoff. Instead it signals the ECU that the operator is not in the seat. If the HST is in neutral (tractor stopped) and the PTO is running the ECU then waits about 3 seconds before shutting the engine off. When you tilt the seat forward a second switch signals that event to the ECU and the ECU then cancels the shutoff timer. Very logical when you think like a computer programmer.

I think you are misreading the steps; the PTO “select” lever is different than the PTO “clutch”lever.
1. Apply the parking brakes and place blocks at the tires.
2. Make sure all shift levers are at "NEUTRAL", and start the engine.
3. Set the PTO select lever to rear only position.

Do not engage the PTO, just move the PTO select lever to the rear only (not the mid-PTO only or the mid&rear combined) position.

4. Dismount the seat and tilt up.
5. Move the lever behind the seat frame the arrow direction to release the seat lock, and tilt the seat forward.
6. Set the PTO clutch lever to engage "ON".
7. Set the engine speed to provide recommended rear PTO.
