What’s the connection between the clutch and the brakes? Can’t help but I’m curious.

edit: I thought it was nuts for a moment! Then I saw you must’ve edited out the unintended word “clutch“ and replaced it with the word brakes….:ROFLMAO:

sorry, the brake is really a set of 'friction discs' that when you press on the brake peddle, they 'squish together' to stop rotation of a shaft connected to the differential. When lever 010 is pulled forward, 060 plates get pressed and 'brakes' are applied. The case shown , is the right side of the 'differential', right axle goes through under 010... E00100.png

I figure it's worn out, already adjusted rod as short as possible. 1625 hours on machine in 8 years.
That BX is getting some use. Mine is 9 years old and only has 700 hours and I thought I used it a lot.

I'm curious about the brake replacement job.... even though I never adjusted mine.... still seems fine although I don't use it much.

Bought it when I turned 65,decided I need another tractor ( had 6 at the time...). Have put maybe 14 hours using it on my property but my neighbours LOVE it ! Turns compost(100yds,2X a season), 'tames' brush on 10 acres(was 8 when I started), snow removal, lots of trenches and swayles, stump removal, hauling 'this and that' , 'here and there,. bucking logs, grading lots and driveways, moving 200t of boulders, you know.. the usual things you do.....
On my 3rd set of fronts, 2nd rears as have to drive on paved road.

Hay WT can you explain the chart ? I can't see it taking 5+ HOURS to remove the snap ring and replace the 'stay'. Same goes with 6+ hours to replace the 'plates'. Now I can see some time to go find the 3 balls that rolled off the bench and went 'walkabout' ! But, can you ballpark the time to replace the 'guts' once the 'right side of housing' is off ? I'm getting a rediculous estimate for the job.Thanks.

What “estimate” are you getting. (Curious minds want to know)

That is the total time from the start of disassembly to the tractor being completely reassembled with a new brake.

One dealer(NOT the local one) quoted me $3900 to 'remove ROPS,Backhoe, seat, fenders, fuel tank, drop 'HST, remove right cover, replace brake, make tractor whole again, $700 in parts and $3200 in labour.

I know I can do 'ROPS to tank' in 3 hours without help, have to assume Kubota techs team up to do it faster. Brake is about $200 in parts, other 700 for snap rings and bearings and oil !
Pretty sure if I hadn't sold my forklift, I could drop the HST do the brake, reinstall in far less than 30 hours.

That's why I'm asking what the pros here would take. Everyone I talk to can't believe the price, especially when 'only $200 in parts'.

All comments appreciated !

fortunately cold and windy here so not helping neighbours too much, though I did move over a ton of armour stones using the pallet forks JUST before the wet hard snow came down..........
