Thus has likely been beat to death but I couldn't find anything using the search function :(
i am wondering what the consensus is for oil and HST filters as well as substitute HST fluid. I have always bought Kubota filters and fluids but with the economy and being on a fixed income I'm wondering if any members have input/experiences on filters for the HST and engine as well as substitute fluid for the HST ?

Use "sudt filter" as key words in the search function and you find the 247656 oil and filter threads. :giggle:

But no problem opening a new thread, web servers are patient, and I go and get beer and crisps.

You may have luck googling it and then after the main phrase put in orange tractor talks. So for example ā€œhydraulic fluid for Kubota orange tractor talksā€. Typically I am able to find specific threads easier that way instead of using the search function built in.

absolutely, let "newbies" or whomever discuss and those that don't want simply move on. Discussions are good... draws new people and traffic / interest to the site.

no reason to make a big issue out of it otherwise what else should be banned?

no talk about tires, diesel, greases, re-attaching hydraulic hoses when under pressure, etc...

Maybe just post a header that reads:

go away!

google / search out your problem on your own

this site is not for you / newbies with new questions not wanted here.
I say let people ask all sorts of tractor related questions and if we don't want to follow them I just move on without drama.

Use OEM. It’s bad economics to save $100 on a $30k + machine using substandard filters and equipment.

I Suspected such but certainly couldn't find anything despite repeated attempts using different search terms (y)šŸ»
There are substitutes, but HST filters are never a good idea to scrimp on.
Fluids are a huge debate, you can go one way or the other.
My take on it is it better be 100% compatible or your going to have issues.
Older equipment has more leeway on fluids than newer equipment.

And as to the "negative comments above" it's just one of those, It gets under your skin questions, flame wars are abundant with OIL and Filter threads, hence the reason for the comments.
Don't take it personally.
It would be less grating to ask what pizza is the best.
P.S. The right answer is it's Chicago style pizza! ;) 🤣🤣🤣

Not sure if i missed a reply but if so, Thank you MapleLeafFarmer for your mature helpful comment.
For those that refer to me as a newbie, I've been here since 2017 but my knowledge in the arena is limited and life does not allow me the time to visit regularly.
I have posted on issues I've experienced and their resolutions as well a few I felt I could help on šŸ»

I will keep it short and sweet.

SUDT2 is "special". Its a synthetic with superior water tolerance and cold weather performance. Pretty much the same thing as John Deere Hy-gard lo-vis (J20D) and CNH Ultraction SSL. Not many equivlents for those oils on the market.

There is nothing special about UDT. Its a conventional "industry stabdard" J20C (Hygard) formulation and there are many satisfactory equivalents on the market.

Kubota says SUDT2 is "better" but its OK to use UDT. If you would consider using UDT there are dozens of satisfactory and Iess expensive products to choose from.

Thank you as well, There are A lot of a-holes in this world, along with those are some hemorrhoids 🤣
I suspected the stay with OEM on the HST filters would be the general (smart) consensus but being on a fixed income with a B3200 and GR2120 both needing service it's OUCH!!! on the $$

I am kinda on the fence when it comes to my stuff.

Wifes van gets ……….ā€Wally World everythingā€ (oil, filters, tire….blah ….blah……) 250K so far

Truck gets ā€œWix filters, Rotella oil, Royal Purple trans fluid, Wally World gear oilā€ā€¦.294K so far

Tractor gets ā€œSTRICTLY Kubota filters, Rotella engine oil(now), and SUDT 2 hydraulic oilā€ā€¦only 220’ish hours…...

Yamaha 300 outboard, ā€œONLY AND STRICTLY Yamaha oil, filters, ….everythingā€ā€¦..Hell, if Yamaha sold gasoline, I’d probably F’ing buy it…. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: ;)

If you're unsure, OEM is the way to go….IMHO….

It’s the perpetual ā€œpenny wise, pound foolishā€ argument I suppose………….IMHO…..(y)(y)(y)(y)

When I was looking for hydraulics oil for my (stone age) garden tractor I spent at least three hours to find the oil types in the operators manual. Only to discover that genuine Kubota SUDT2 was cheaper than anything I had found so far.

These tractors cost to much to skimp on maintenance. You get what you pay for. Can't afford my tractor going down in the middle of a project due to cheap oil or filters.

Honestly.... I all depends on how much you like your your Kubota and how long you expect to keep it.

My neighbor, who happened to be a petroleum engineer, that has since recently passed , always told me, "Life cycle longevity of a machine is directly proportional to the quality of maintenance that piece of equipment it gets over time."

He said when parts wear out you have to replace them (OEM parts preferred) to keep your machine alive as long as you can. He lectured me. in his 40'ish years in the lubricants business, he found time and time again the Compatible POLs (Petroleum, Oils and lubricants) does not mean they are the SAME as OEM stocks. He said non-OEM Compatible products vary in the makeup of the product, such as the base oil component and the quality and quantity of additives that might come close to meeting OEM standards. But... close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

All I can say is I have 3228 hours (26 years) on my B2410 and it the engine and HST tranny has not given me one heartache.

I like, many of us, have seen a lot opinions, debate , and I am sure arguments
regarding POL's on our stuff. AND.... I am certain it will continue to do so. HappyEasterLoveGIF.gif

I wish all of you a happy and Blessed Easter! Butch

Not sure about the Bx23S topics šŸ¤”
But 267.00 later I'm a lubed up and filtered. They assured me the (filters) weren't leakers and better than a trojan 🤣🤣🤣.
Motor oil was a bit too pricey so I'll switch to Rotella.
Thanks to all that responded ;) Even the hemorrhoids šŸ».

For an "enhanced owner experience" there are no substitutes. Specially engineered for your hydraulic equipment
