Has anyone found an aftermarket or another Kubota part number to use as a dip stick. The dip stick or gauge is in a terrible position. I have big hands and trying to reach in that area is a PITA. I have to work both hands in to pull the little cap. I t does not have a ring or a “T” handle. It is like a little cap. Sorry if this is a redundant post. Thanks

there is a little trick that may help.

With your right hand use your thumb under the hard line that runs across the little rubber nubbie and same hand the index finger over top of the hard line across the little rubber nubbie.

Instead of pulling up give the nubbie a little twist first with the slightest upward motion and bobs your uncle / success.

Give it a try. i do it with winter gloves on and works fine. trying to do a straight pull is very difficult cause that grey hard line is in the way.

I heartily agree - horrible design/placement. I suspect a clever guy could find and modify a generic dipstick to take its place.

Yes, it is poorly thought out item. One of my two biggest gripes on an otherwise nice machine.

The other is having to raise the loader to remove filter screen.

At least you don't have to worry about a limb poking into a ring and pulling the dip stick out. I use my L3901DT in the woods most of the time doing firewood and there is always a twig or limb brushing up on the tractor. I once had the wire going to the oil sending unit get pulled off the sensor.

It is a pain sometime to get it out, but like MapleLeafFarmer said, if you turn it a little while pulling up on it, it does come out easier.

I took a zip tie and made a finger size loop, then another zip tie or maybe it was 2 to fasten that to the grooved area of the knob. That has worked pretty good for my old arthritic hands.
I can remember I will take a picture of it.

Bill

So this is what I did, I understand the thoughts of catching but my arthritis demanded I do something!

Maybe that is the reason they designed it like it is. Low profile so that it does not get pulled out accidentally.

You would think that a dipstick from another model would/could work. If you post some good photos with measurements of all the salient features I'm sure we could figure out a compatible Kubota part at team OTT. Surely there are enough dipticks on this forum. 😂

Here are the dipsticks on the MX6000 and M6060.

I will get some pictures of it next to a ruler. I went to my dealer, they did not have to compare it to in parts. I’ll go when the weather is better and compare to some of the models on the lot.

A ruler or tape measure, a pair of calipers and some photos and we could measure our own dipsticks to see if they'll work for you. Just a thought.

This almost turned into the armrest measurement thread…
It might still go that way yet. 😂 Let's see if the OP refuses to provide any information in the form of photos and measurements after many, many weeks of waiting.

I got thinking about the great design of the handle on my Subaru outbacks dipstick. Well I pulled and compared and while subaru is longer and could be trimmed and marked. The handle failed because a quick measure said it was over 11.35 mm and the kubota is 10 .
Wouldn't fit in the tube.
If McMXi 's examples measured right I am still interested in how this comes out.
Sorry I forgot to take pictures and measurements maybe later.

That or a walk around the local pick and pull to see what else might work.
Can you tell I have cabin fever?

Bill

So the Stick on my L2501 assuming it is the same as the OP?
The seated length is about 12-1/2 "
the full mark 9-13/16"
low mark 12-3/16"
seal part that goes in the tube is 10mm.
Sorry no metric rule for the measurements.

Down the rabbit hole we go. 😂

Here are the engine oil dipsticks from the M6060 (top) and MX6000 (bottom). The length is the least critical dimension since a long dipstick can be cut down and remarked, but the image below gives a reasonable account of the length.

I reached out to Messick’s It appears Kubota has a solution. It will cost about $60 plus shipping. They said that there is a service bulletin depending on the serial number of the tractor and engine. Check with your dealer.

I know it is sort of trivial but I need to use both hands. Should be something easy to check. Heck the HST dip stick is right between my legs.

Here are the part numbers
Dipstick part # TC620-16600, $30.66

Guide part # TC620-16610, $28.80
