Only and +inch of fresh powder dropped over night. No need to fire up LOT. Thought about looking at LOT, but didn't.

Did snap an image of my one of my off road slides due to no lateral traction or steering. Just 2 link ladder twist style chains on the rear. The mass of the FEL and bucket and/or the bare R4s just don't provide enough grip. Still getting use to the SCUT v. old NH. It definitely needs chains on the fronts. Traction overall even with chains on rears is less than the bare R1s on the much heavier NH.

After the temperature got up to 30°F this morning (It was 16°F when I got up), I put the grapple on the L3901DT and pull a tree out of another tree that was blown over in one of the wind storms we have had.

12_31_14.jpg

Did take too much to get it down.

12_34_14.jpg

Cut it up into 7 60" long logs and took them to the splitting area.

12_56_04.jpg

Bucked them up in 20" lengths and split them. Got a Mule load out of them.

Added 5 hours on the tractor today. 1.5 hours blowing snow and then 3.5 hours skidding pine logs.

A good day...

That looks like what we get in Texas during most of our winter storms. Normally we just wait until tomorrow and it is gone. We did have that several days and several storms event in February 2021 when the utilities let the electrical grid of Texas nearly collapse and shut it down.
I remember one time that I was sent to Dallas for a one night over service call from work. Must have been late 80's just before Christmas. It was cold even for a Vermonter. During the night it started to rain and in the morning it was 5 degrees. Every thing was a skating rink. Couldn't begin to walk or drive but people didn't know and tried. It was funny but sad - If you can't go then you must need more gas. Cars every which way all over the road, One hit a hydrant across from the motel and broke it off. Made a huge ice sculpture by the next morning. I finally got to the airport a couple days late, ice all gone, and then slept there two nights before I could get a flight out. My only experience with Texas.

:) Actually it did. That first afternoon and evening. The guy from the local shop picked me up at the airport and we went over to set up and experimental aircraft scale.

After helping out at my wife's horse barn on Christmas Day, I was asked to pop over today to see if I could figure out what someone did to the JD 3033R's 3pt hitch as their arena drag is all messed up. They had a company come in and do some work on the indoor ring and they used the JD and dropped the drag and put another implement on for their use and then upon leaving put the arena drag back on but it is all sorts of messed up and isn't level etc.

So I get there and needed to figure out the JD 3pt which took a little bit to understand how their bottom 2 links work as that was the problem, front of the drag and tines wouldn't touch the ground but the rear roller would......the trick was to get the bottom two barrel adjusters lengthened and then evened out sot he drag was level. Then set the depth stop on the lever so no one digs up the expensive footing more than they need.

It was a little annoying to backwards engineer (not too many JD specific videos found) but damn what a crap thing to do as far as not setting it back to where it was before borrowing it......

The ladies seemed happy......I also checked the manure pile to see if that had been neglected again but the barn manager was able to keep things relatively tidy since my Christmas "poopening".......

Fell a dead Oak and used the L3901DT and grapple to move the logs to the splitting/stacking area. Got 3 60 logs out of the tree before it got bad. I think I should have gotten the butt log by itself, the two logs was a little much. Had to go about 1/2 mile with the logs. Where the logs were, I had my seat-belt on and kept the grapple really close to the ground.

We've added a small room on the outside of our shed and that meant a roller door had to be removed. Rather than Marion and I each up a ladder to get it down, in with the mighty B7200....every home needs a forklift.

It's not too heavy for us to lift, but if you've got a forklift, well, why not ?

I sure do admire you and others here with the skills of grabbing multiple logs with your grapple.
I haven't used mine enough and struggle with one!
Hoping this years firewood will be the time I need to be a bit more proficient .

I use the pusher to clean up after the back blade and to pile the snow. I have found that once it builds up the pusher starts to ride up over some of the snow, by then the pusher is full and rolling in front out the sides.
So might as well just use my plow then lol

I know it's still winter, But with my new job I am HIGHLY considering replacing my old Cub Cadet zero turn with a Kubota Z421KWNC-54....is it overkill? Maybe lol

But I sure do want it. Already got half of it saved up, hoping to do a 70 percent down payment and finance the rest to help my credit and have low monthly payments. But we shall see.

Does anyone here have a Kubota zero turn?

I bought the Z421 with the 60" deck and really like it. I got a trac seat off of Amazon and it makes a big difference on the ride and saves quite a bit of $$ vs getting the z422.

When I look at them, it was only couple hundred dollars more for the Z400 series which has the better transmission, larger fuel tank and more premium engine. I'm going to wait until spring anyways and see the Kubota dealer and see what they have. I was gonna get mine fitted with the suspension system and the operator controller discharge chute. Should around $9k-ish. But still looking at other options too, doesn't need to be Kubota but I do like the color and plus a free hat.

I'd love a bigger deck but there are some ares that the 54" will just fit in better, like my shed haha.

Well, if you decide for that option, you know where to get Kubota orange and I do have a Kubota hat lying around in my workshop that came with a service kit. Despite having a workshop manual, I could not figure out where on the tractor the hat should be fitted.

The pictures of their website show it having a Kubota travel mug. Maybe I'll try to get them to include it, it will be one expensive coffee mug that I won't use while mowing but look nice on the L2501!

Won't need to get the tractor out today. The howling wind woke me somewhere between 11:00 last night and 07:30 today and Wifey's wind chimes on the front porch were pretty annoying. Woke up to see (not real) snow. It's 26° and sunny as I look out at our 0.025" of whiteness.

The local TV station's website stated a CODE BLUE ALERT has been issued because the temps are predicted to be below +20°F. The story included a picture of a thermometer in the snow registering -20°F. It's possible that'll be chilly enough to get everyone wearing long pants tonight, but it depends on just how proud they are of their leg tats:)
