Now it's 48 this am, almost 40deg. colder than yesterday. I take the 120 over this 48 any day. Mom used to live just outside Phoenix, been there many times, I can take heat better than cold.
I’m so glad that God made us all different, if we all preferred the same weather it would get mighty crowded in one spot. Of course someone that likes 120 degrees needs professional help.

Back from the Christmas family get together one day later than scheduled. Another Delta delay, delay.... cancel due to weather and/or mechanical. But I guess weather trumps mechanical. So no compensation. Camped out at MSP overnight and got a standby seat for a 1000 flight to DLH. Which ended up finally taking off at 1600. Didn't realize a plane just mostly sitting on the tarmac can run too low on fuel to take off. Not good when you need to go through two deicing cycles because you are sitting around going nowhere for... I'm a Delta Jinx. Don't remember a trip using Delta without issues. At least the 2nd leg outbound plane flight crew detected a "safety" issue before we took off and Delta had a spare sitting around.

The usual couple hour drive from DLH to home took closer to 3hrs. Bit slippery and at time zero vis. Yeah! Seat time on LOT (little orange tractor). 8-12" forecasted. More like a few millimeters of ice covered by 6-8" of heavy snow. Driving up my driveway in the dark was "interesting" even in 4x4. Hard to tell where driveway ended and ditches began. Weird. Had snowbanks.

This AM. Snow pack was no higher than when I left. Weird. It did snow a solid 6-8". Next morning reset the mechanical hi/low thermometer. Noted +40F. Fired up LOT and proceeded to clear snow using the blower. A few times sliding or driving off the driveway around the curves into the relatively shallow ditches. Thought I was staying inside the little berm that should have been snowbanks. Even with rear chains was going nowhere without first driving forward, out of the ditch, and realigning my direction of travel. Guessing 2 link ladder twist chains are not the best on solid ice when it comes to lateral bite. Life. Next time. Square links or diamond pattern? No room for V studs on the chain. Experience reinforced the want for some 2-link ladder with V studs on the front. Sort of useless R4s on ice when it comes to steering or traction.

Side note. The RejeX coated snowblower chute stayed snow free. Little semi-vertical icicles formed from the fast flying snow out of the chute. A first. Sort of pretty. Should of taken an image. Next time when similar conditions. Heavier damp snow. The box was packed with snow between it and the auger. Real test will be heavy wet spring mushy snow. Little blower is impressive. Figured out that set the chute flap at the 2nd to most vertical allows the best visibility and minimal blow back from wind turbulence. At the bottom of the driveway the power line crosses. The little blower was shooting it up to and at times above the line. Another first. That's with throttle set at 3000 rpms. Not the 540 mark at +3000 something.

Cleared the driveway. Took about 3+ hours and it’s still not to my liking.

Got at least 12 inches last night and today with the wind creating drifts 5ft+ at random points in my parking area and driveway.

First time the tractor has really struggled with the back blade. It just can’t clear that much without getting spun around. Started researching blowers today, as I think that’s my best bet to handle snow events like this.

IMO that looks like a good reason to put a couple logs on the fire and fix another pot of coffee. (If I had to go out I think I would be snapin’ on the katoohlas).

Got around 6 inches of snow sunday but sleet before that. 50 MPH winds did some serious drifting. My snowblower earned its keep yesterday. About 3 hours moving it all. Love the seat time!

That looks awful. We started out with freezing rain last night but it warmed up and rained all night. 99% of the little bit of snow we had is gone.

That looks like what we get in Texas during most of our winter storms. Normally we just wait until tomorrow and it is gone. We did have that several days and several storms event in February 2021 when the utilities let the electrical grid of Texas nearly collapse and shut it down.
