I have found a really good deal locally on a used B2672 - a 5ft wide angling snow blade for the front of my B2620. It, however, does not have hydraulics on it. I plan to remedy that. Kubota makes this same blade as an OEM option with factory hydraulics that looks like the below.

Kubota also makes a conversion kit (B2671, I believe) that converts a non-hydraulic B2672 to one with hydraulics. But online, it is listed at places like Messicks or Colemans for north of $700.

I can do it myself for cheaper, I am sure. I mean, what are we talking about... A cylinder and a few hoses with fittings?

What I can't find so far is info on the size hydraulic cylinder that is the best fit in there. Is there anybody here at the forum that has a B2672 with hydraulics that can shoot some good pix of the hydraulic cylinder on their plow for me. I'd really like to see any plate or sticker on the hydraulic arm that lets me know sizing. Many thanks in advance

You dont need to match OEM perfectly.. You can measure retracted and extended length by angling your blade. The rest should be obvious.

True. I am starting down this pathway as even 3rd party exact replacements are very pricey. This same cylinder is used on some other kubota implements and every one is bitching and moaning on cost and availability. Apparently there's alot of bad blood out there for Kubota choosing a very non standard cylinder that is disproportionately expensive.

I like to over-analyze these things so I need to step back and take my time. Like Dan suggested... I'll measure the distance between the pins at full left and full right and see what I can come up with on the diy market. There seems to be alot of sub $200 cylinders out there that can be made to work we with a grinder and a welder.

This ain't rocket science and I wiuld think you can find a cylinder thats pretty much plug and play for under $200. IMO the best source for small cylinders is Magister

By the time you add up all the other bits you will be looking at simething around $400. Personally I would buy the $700 kit and put my time and creative juices to better work.

curious...so I surfed.... found this...
CYLINDER,2"X6 1/2
Part # 77700-08404 70001-00636
-replaces #70001-00636 CYLINDER 2" X 6 1/2"

so 'any 2" bore, 6" stroke cylinder will work very well, it just won't full angle but that shouldn't be a problem ! That size is about $150 CDN.

crazy thin is messicks 'kit' is $750 , cylinder only is $860.

A few other bits of uniqueness to the Kubota cylinder that makes off thr shelf match more challenging

1. Pin holes on each end are different sized - one take a ⅞ pin and the other a ¾ pin. This variation is apparently not common

2. Also the ports to connect the hydraulic fittings and lines to exit the cylinder parallel to the end pin holes on the oem version and so far... mostly perpendicular on the aftermarket cylinders.

So this will be a good challenge. I need to get it out to the farm and do a bunch of measuring and brainstorming. This will be a fun rabbit hole to explore. But Dan may be right... might just be better to pay an extra few hundred bucks and just get the oem kit.

I looked at the porting when you first posted this picture. I could fix both "problems" with a 7/8" twist drill and two rerouted hoses. Like I said - you dont have to match OEM exactly. But for the minimal cost savings I would still buy the Kubota kit 🤔

Aftermarket "exact" replacement for cylinder only is about what a oem conversion kit costs

Add a couple hundred more for the rest of the kit.

Trikepilot, talk to a Salesperson at a dealership to see if you can buy the complete cylinder kit through Whole Goods. If so, it should be cheaper than buying through the Parts Department.

I had a delay in the start of my workday so I went online to my two closest dealers and emailed them for more info on the B2671 conversion kit. They aren't open yet but we'll see what they say.

Dan other than the cylinder, it is really just a pin on each end to secure the cylinder, two hoses, and the QC fittings. I have had great results with using DiscountHydraulicHose.com to economically source the bits and pieces to connect it all. I doubt it would be several hundred $$$.

BAP - I am not familiar with what Whole Goods is in relation to getting parts - can you explain how it works and what it is?

I have spent thousands of dollars at DHH anx I make custom hoses in house. Things add up fast. You easily have $100 just in hoses and couplers.

BTW - a good mod to that blade would be the addition of a cushion valve.

Whole Goods are package prices sold through the sakes department. . Messicks kit prices are their Whole Goods prices. Thats why the kit is less than the cylinder itself.

From personal experience (which is limited) you might want better cylinders than OEM.

Maybe start at https://www.baileyhydraulics.com/
That hasn't been my experience at all. I've had zero issues with any hydraulic cylinders on multiple pieces of equipment from Kubota and Land Pride, and I'm talking a lot of cylinders and a lot of use. If you want to talk about crappy, leaking, unreliable pieces of junk that come from the factory on Kubota products, then look no further than the Faster couplings. They're utter garbage and a disgrace. The six rear remote couplings that came on the MX are excellent, but they're not Faster.

OK ... rant over! 😂

Here's the factory set up on my Land Pride SB1596. I'd buy this implement again, no doubt about it.

Betcha a dollar to donuts that those clevis-end cylinders used by LP are a common item that is easily sourced from a multitude of vendors. Not so much the one off cylinder (# 77700-08484) Kubota is using for a bunch of front implements!

Just for archival purposes in case someone else comes along in the future looking for info on this commonly used Kubota cylinder... the attached is the B2671 kit diagram and here are the specs.

One of my local dealers responded and sent it to me. They want the same $713 that Messicks wants and this appears - from the post above - to be the Whole Goods cost

You're probably right. No doubt you and @TheOldHokie will get it figured out, and all I can say is that the view is worth the climb. I've been using my STB1596 for five winters now, and a snow blade without hydraulics is like a cup of tea without milk. 😂
