This is not my first tractor but this is my first kubota.
I bought it and drove it home. It had been sitting for awhile so it had to be boosted off. When I got home I parked it and put I charger on it. Now when I hit he start button I get nothing. I have fuel in it. I literally turned the switch and jump off and that was it. I didn't do any thing but put it on the charger. I'm stumped. Nothing is in English. There is a black twist knob to the right of switch that turns right or left. The picture looks like it shuts the engine off when turned right but it also starts the engine like the push button.

My L185DT had a key switch on the left of the steering wheel, and a black lever on the right.
The key ran the ignition and lights; I think it had to be "on" to start the tractor but not to run it - although it probably ran the charging circuit. The right hand lever turned on the glow plugs counter-clockwise, and the starter clockwise. Center was "run". You turned the tractor off by killing the fuel, by pulling up on the fuel lever. I don't recall any safety interlocks, but there may have been one or two. Make sure the tractor is in neutral, and the PTO is off. Push in the clutch. Sit on the seat.
Welcome to OTT!!
Best of luck!

Battery could be to old it just wont hold a charge anymore. Can you take a battery from something else and see what happens?

I'm not familiar with a "start button" on the L series tractors unless someone added it or your mistaken as to what it actually is.
That black knob is your starter switch. Put the transmission in neutral. Turn your key on, turn the black knob to the left for 30 - 45 seconds (this preheats the glow plugs), push in the clutch and then turn the black knob to the right and the engine should start.

I guess I need to take a picture of the push button and post it. It looks like it was factory but I cant be 100% sure. I'll try to take a pic or two and post it. I noticed a fuel cut off on the left side just below the tank. Is this the only one? When I turn off the switch it kills the tractor. Is this the correct way? That's the way the p.o. showed me how to do it. The oil cap shows 30 weight and 10W30. The writing is not in English but, I would think that you would need some type of 15w40 or something like that. I've got a diesel that uses 10w30 castrol diesel but I wanted to be sure before I used something like that. Does any one have a manual? I checked eBay to no avail.
