My fan belt is full of cracks, i found the part # 16241-97010 but it is discontinued. Can anyone suggest a perfect fit or should i just buy one on ebay that claims to be the original Kubota belt?

Also how hard is it to replace? Not sure if i can DIY it.

Most V-belts have the length-width designated on the spine. Any numbers you can still read on yours?

(Example: my finish mower made in Asia has a dealer-price of $35 EACH for the “back-ordered“ twin V-belts. But their designation is readable on the spine…so I ordered a pair on Amazon…. the PAIR was $30 and they’ve been every bit as good and hard-working as the OEM.)

The number might be like “5L320” or such….(I made that up for illustration)

No mine is pretty much gone, surprised it has not broke yet.

Isn't the Kubota part number good enough?

Edit. It’s in the title.
You can remove it be loosing the alternator and moving it around the fan. Even if it breaks removing it an auto parts store should be able to match it up.

Is it really that easy? :)

I've bought great belts from VBeltGuys.com on numerous occasions. Great belts, fair prices and fast shipping.

Here's their B7800 belt:
Kubota B7800 Compact Tractor Replacement Belt

Pretty much identical to the description above. And once you know the size or "replacement belt ID" you can source the belt in standard material, kevlar, poly, etc.

As eluded to in previous posts. Your local auto parts store should have one or 2 of these things hanging on the wall. Should take them all of 30 seconds to match it up.

(and luckily they are nearly "idiot proof"……although the older I get, the less I believe in such words as “idiot proof”….);)

Yes-assuming the auto parts store has a clue what their job is. Probably better luck at a NAPA store than an Auto Zone store.
HA stores here are useless, i went to autozone and advanced auto, we don't sell tractor parts! I tried to tell them the size and they said they didn't have any that small.

What a joke

NAPA here is not open on the weekends.

I'll just order online and pay the shipping.

It doesn't take too much pre planning before hitting up an auto parts store to be smarter than the counter parts person.

When needing a belt or simple electrical part for the tractors, mowers, willys jeep, etc......I'll tell them what I'm looking for or give them a part # to cross reference to anything they have in stock. When asked, "Whats this for?"......I tell them an experimental science project and anything in stock that crosses to that part # given will work.

One time I needed a new cheap 12 vdc starter solenoid for the '48 Willys Jeep. At the parts store I was asked what's it for? Me: Doesn't matter....its a science project. Parts guy: We don't sell parts for science projects. Me: You don't stock simple 12vdc starter solenoids? Parts guy: Yes, but I need to know what its for. Me: Show me what you have in stock on your computer and I'll show you what I need. There, that one is perfect!

Within a few minutes I was holding a $10 starter solenoid and was heading out the door. It seems if the part's counter person is under 50 years old.....they don't have a clue how to think out of the box and find something that can replace what you're looking for. LOL!!

I find it useful to do your own research using their website, and tell them the part number you need.
Not that hard with automotive parts, but specific items get more difficult.
But it's Sunday late afternoon!
Cross reference is your friend!
Good Luck to all!

Funny you should say this.

Back before he retired, my local Orielly’s had a guy working there that I had worked with 40+ years ago (back when they were named Murrays). He had a Mohawk hoist in his barn and worked on cars as a “side gig”.

When I would walk in, Kurt would say “What the F----are you making today you crazy bastard?” (he was a Marine too ;) )

Then I would tell him what I was doing, and he would help me rummage through their inventory to find what I needed. He even gave me some good ideas on how to improve my “plan”...

Now I just get blank stares and open mouthed, dumb looks…….sad kinda….
