I have 2003 BX2200 with 1215 hrs. on it. Just today after a hard workout I started to notice the front wheel shimmy. I adjusted the axle pivot and the problem continued. When I take it out of 4 wheel drive the problem goes away.

Any thoughts on the cause?

Thanks hodge and freewheel3. The front tires are foam filled but the problem is more pronounced on hard surfaces. I will keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

Thanks again.

Have you checked the air pressure in the tires? If one is real low while the other is good, the circumfirance difference can create a load on the drivetrain. It is a freeby to look at.
This has nothing to do with your condition, although it highlights how sometimes the solution is really simple. My neighbor asked if I would look at his riding mower, because something was wrong with the deck and it was scalping his yard, no matter how high he had it adjusted. All 4 tires were low on air- it was that simple. Pump them up, and the deck was at the right height.

Its normal for the front wheels to shimmy back and forth when turning on hard surface while locked in 4wd. Things torque up until one of the wheels slip. If that's what you mean?

Greetings from Central Kentucky. My 2005 BX 2230 w/500 hrs is doing the same thing. I sheared the pin in my front drive shaft. After I replaced the pin in the front drive shaft universal coupling I noticed that I had a vibration while in 4 WD, it went away when in 2 WD. At this point I have to wonder if the Universal joint is bad. Please post back with any information you find.

Well....after replacing the joint that is attached on the front wheel PTO shaft from the transmission my FWD drive behaves like it should. I really couldn't find anything wrong with the old universal joint but from the peculiar angle that the joint operates it would be difficult to replicate.

Had the exact same thing happen.

To be clear....there are two U-joint assemblies: one right at the front axel (covered by the plastic boot), the other is back towards the tranny. Your fix was the front u-joint assembly?
