So, I let the battery die on my MX4800. Left key in ACC mode by accident I guess. It’s a new battery. Charged it back up and put it back in. Starts fine, but just sputters along like in limp mode for a while until it dies. Throttle does nothing. I’m gettting a P0606 and P0380 code. Replaced air filter, fuel filter, checked connections at battery terminals, checked water separator, replaced fuel pump. Bypassed tank completely. Nothing works. I’m way out in the woods with limited ability to get it on a trailer…any other troubleshooting I can do???

Check all fuses.
Remove the negative cable and let sit for couple minutes then reattach cable, It might reset.
If the P0606 will not reset you will need some dealer interaction to fix it.

This may be helpful. I would stop trying to crank it and find a way to pull it out and get to dealer.
Looks like it’s a glow plug issue and a ECM issue. Good luck.
Appreciate it—this is a last option. Hoping to troubleshoot if possible.

What is the battery voltage after starting? Measure at the cable clamps, not on the battery terminals.

Tractor ran fine (I assume), you let the battery go flat, you charge it, tractor does not run properly.

So most likely problem is related to the battery. Terminals connected correctly? Also check minus cable connection to chassis.

Another question: did you disconnect the battery from the tractor when charging after it went flat? And how flat was it, did you measure the voltage?

Will check voltage after I start it and check the ground.. I cleaned and reconnected the terminals. To charge I pulled it and put it on a NOCO charger, the voltage was pretty low, don’t remember exactly. It was dead flat, nos signs of life at all.

Battery load testers are inexpensive ($29 & up…or free if you bring your battery to a car parts store, they’ll test it for free).

if not tested under load you never really know what your battery’s health is when you attempt to start your Kubota; which, by definition, under-load when starting.

On the way from Amazon. Thank you Project Farm

Trust me, I’m not an electrical nor electronic expert….take with a grain of salt.

I do recall some contexts where low battery voltage can cause some major issues with ECM/PCM/ECU.

I think it traverses auto/truck/tractor. Best not to frig around with a bad/poorly charged battery……can cause more problems than you care to take on….🥺

Make sure battery is in good condition before playing around.

Load testing is a great place to start. I bought a load tester for that purpose on our vehicles recently.

Yep it was definitely time to pick one up. The battery was new when I ran it down, and I charged it up all the way. Doesn’t mean I didn’t damage it when I left the ACC on for a few days though…we will see.

Completely flat batteries can recover, though some damage may have been done (capacity, self discharge). Since it started the tractor it can still deliver the current, so unlikely the voltage is too low, but I think worth checking; this may be the reason for the error you are getting.

Wrt to the charging: when the battery is completely flat it may need a lot of voltage to get current into it and some cheap chargers have very high output voltages with no load (like the Bosch rubbish I had). This may do damage to ECUs. But you had the battery disconnected, so everything fine here.

Not sure if it was mentioned already: check for faulty fuses. Seen weird error codes on a Kubota tractor with a fuse blown and supply voltage to one of the controllers missing.

Thanks, will definitely check the fuses.
