Can anyone tell me if there L3800 makes a different noise when the clutch is released after starting. I'm wondering if its the hydro pump.

Thanks

Mine sounds the same for the most part.

Check your hydro fluid in the site glass. Mine was low from the dealer.

Yes, they make all kind of weird noises. Check your "bubble," as mentioned before starting it up. Let it warm up good. You didn't mention if it was cold when you heard this noise.

Also, make sure your PTO & 4WD is not engaged. If you start it cold and then let your clutch out at low RPM, that can make a whine, or a different noise than you are used to.

Read up on your clutch, it is a 2 stage clutch.

The worst noise is if you leave your brake on and then take off!

If you're doing any work that is medium or just small stuff, put your throttle at about 1500 RPM for most stuff. If you don't believe, just try idling up a hill and then pull your throttle down for more RPM's. You'll notice less noise then.

You're not "saving" a diesel engine by doing work at lower RPM's.

If you ever owned a volkswagen bug, you just got used to the noises. These tractors are similar. They whine and groan but the bottom line is that you can't drive them like the "gas" (foot pedal) is a throttle. It's just a valve opener or closer.

I didn't mean to pontificate here as I don't know everything. Most of what I know came from this site and others.

BTW, an L3700SU is the same thing as your L3800 HST
