I know this isn't a Orange piece of equipment, but I will repaint this dang thing if someone can help me. I am just wondering if anyone has replaced the $400.00+ Briggs & Stratton engine with a Predator 212. If you did, where did you find the adapter for the shaft? I have spent a few days trying to find one and can't find it. I have ordered a couple from Amazon where the reviews say they will work, but when they arrive, they are wrong. I know I can't be the only one who has run into this issue. I have watched a few videos on you tube, but no help. Thanks in advance for any help you could give, or provide a link to the adapter, etc......
I did this swap little over two years ago. I used an adapter I bought off Amazon. It says it's currently unavailable, but you might try searching using similar product description.

I had to drill new holes in the mounting plate too.

Will do. Have a Happy Easter!
Well... how did it work out for you? I tried a similar 2 piece tapered adapter for the same reasons and ended up with a snapped off bolt. To be fair, the brand new from Agrifab impeller was warped from the factory and likely caused it. Curious if it's still working for you without issue, might extract the grade 5 and put the old, beat up, but balanced impeller back on if the adapter is working out.

It seems to work good. I was a little concerned about the shaft being smaller, but with the adapters, everything bolted up nicely. Hopefully your grade five didn't snap off inside the shaft, but at least it's soft enough to drill out. Honestly, if the new impeller was warped, even a grade 8 would not have lasted. But look on the bright side, if the bolt would not have given out, you could be looking at a broken crank. I have heard several stories about the crank snapping off or breaking inside the motor, usually at journal. I Only used it for the first cutting and the leaves that are always left over from fall. After that, I use a mulching blade for the rest of the season. I adapted mine to fit my Zero turn. Also, I removed the chipper knives from mine, and that was where a slight vibration was coming from. I don't need the chipper part of the yard vac, because I bought a bigger chipper that goes on my 3 point on the back of my tractor.

Oh it snapped off a few millimeters in, far enough to be a bigger pain than it already had been. 😅 Oddly enough, I was videoing it running at idle to show agrifab how far out of whack they had welded it and that it was NOT a minor amount of vibration. The bolt head shooting across the shop should have been clue enough but I was still denied a replacement since it was purchased through amazon... Live and learn.
