I have a L4600 I bought at auction with 260 hours. Running like a champ until last week while tilling, I lost all hydraulics. Steering was completely out. Took it into the dealer and was told the filter was clogged but had a lot of metal in it. They said they needed to explore to find where it's coming from. They dug into the PTO and all looks good. They want to put new fluid and a new filter (that's X2 at this point) and let me run it for awhile to see how it does. This is going to cost me $1700 and counting so far with no answers. Any help/advice is appreciated. I'm new to the tractor world by the way.

I wouldn't be too concerned by that on a DT.
If it was an HST then I'd worry a little.

Appreciate your comment. The clogged filter shut me down quick. Do you think it happened gradually or do I need to be concerned with it happening again soon? How would I check without draining all the fluid? Or do I need to pay close attention to anything hinting to a hydraulic problem when running and then just plan on changing the fluid and filter again?

I would run it for a while, then change just the filter keep the fluid.
Cut it open again and inspect.
