Assuming tractor is less than 6yrs old, what questions should the buyer ask the seller early on? Then what steps should be taken during transaction and afterward to assume warranty benefits?
Thank you!

I don't get the point in asking the owner questions. They can say whatever. I do think it's worth having a checklist to verify that everything works for the model you are interested in. Those would depend on the general condition of paint etc whether the filters are still painted on and the number of hours.

For warranty, check with Kubota on what you need to transfer a warranty or if it is transferable or has one.

The factory warranties differ from tractor to tractor. As an example, the MX has three warranties.

Basic standard limited: 2 years or 2,000 hours
Limited emissions: 5 years or 3,000 hours
Limited Powertrain: 6 years or 3,000 hours (non-commercial)

From the Kubota Warranty Guide:

Transferability If you decide to sell your Kubota, any remaining warranty coverage may be transferred to the new owner. Contact your Kubota dealer for details.

When I sold the LX, the dealer called me about the loader pin issue some of them had. I told him I had sold the tractor and he asked for buyers number, I gave it to him and he was hanging up with me and calling him. I shot buyer a text as a heads up and he was already talking to the dealer.
The warranty follows the serial number, not owner.

I got mixed answers on this when I bought my LX used. One dealer supposedly filled out transfer forms but I never heard back on that. I registered the tractor and implements online with Kubota in my name.

Later I called Kubota to see if I could verify it was registered in my name and it was but when the lady switched to the warranty screen it reverted to the original owner and she said it didn't have any way for her to change it.

The bottom line was the warranty remains with the tractor and not the owner. I have had one TSB fix as fails procedure done at no charge since I have owned it.

It's a good idea to talk to your closest dealer and or Kubota and ask if the tractor has any outstanding warranty or TSB issues out on it.
