I am rebuilding a b7100HST. When I ordered new 12 Head bolts,2 studs and 2 nuts for the studs for this engine, The head bolts and studs were in reason, but the 11MM nuts were $23.00 EACH.
At first I thought it was a mistake and called 2 Kubota dealers and they said that is the correct price, but they were not sure why.

Has anyone ever purchased one of these?

Sounds like a trip to Lowes is in order, I have found lots of fasteners in the drawers fill with all kinds of silly stuff, or off to maybe auto parts store 23.00 bucks man that has got to be a typo

Yes i'm afraid you are correct, they are 11mm .
I had to purchase some last year for my 7100 (750 to 850 rebuild) and they were not cheap here in the UK either:eek:
Not sure they worked out as much as yours but still way more than a 10mm or 12mm item of the same spec.

Its a mad size to be honest, and just another way of ensuring people have to buy genuine Kubota parts a guess.

sometimes they are pricey, but you have no choice, dust cap for bottom of spindle on mower was $35, tuna can was a perfect replica and the tuna wasn't too bad!

I sent a email to Kubota. They are checking into it.
It'll be interesting to see what they have to say! Sometimes I begin to wonder it is worth it to spend the big bucks for the quality machines because parts are soooo expensive. :(

This is the response I got from Kubota:

The price of the nut has been lowered to $11.44 list. The answer from our parent company about this nut was that they'd never bothered to try another vendor and so all of the price changes over the years affected it, as well as the fact that it is a special nut anyway, due to it's application.

Thanks very much for pointing this out, I hope this is a little better.

Special fasteners cost a fortune- it isn't just Kubota. I bet you won't find that nut anywhere. but Kubota. You might find something that will do, but not that nut.

I bought an overflow valve for my Cummins. It is a hollowed out bolt with a spring and ball inside. $109.00. I could have gotten it for less, but not right away, and not made by Bosch. I was in the middle of diagnosing a problem, and needed the factory overflow valve. So, I paid dearly because it is a specialty item, and because I had to have it.

I did get a reply, from Kubota on why the price was so high, mainly because these nuts are for older tractors and they do not stock many.
Anyway, I did order the 2 of the $11.00 nuts and when I got them they were USED!!!

I sent another email, but have not got a reply.

Great research and response regarding your nut case.

Many of the bolts and nuts on these tractors are also a specially marked alloy I noticed.

The sizes are also part of the nut program, however, in order to deal with it, all over my tractor, I wrote the nut size in black permanent marker so if I ever have to loosen or tighten them, I'll know the right MM wrench size to get.

Never give up!

For some reason Kubota use metric 'fine' threads, even in a metric country (Australia) these fasteners are unusual and expensive.
