Hate to ask a stupid question - but I cant stop myself.

Regarding the M9540 -

How do I identify the suction line fitting on the AC and will a standard Auto Parts recharge kit work?

Ive done it on my truck but dont want to blow anything up on the tractor.

Thanks.

I sure hope you're not intending to add freon without using gauges!!! I agree that on R134A systems the QD's are different sizes.

Dump the r134 in the system and recharge with duracool or something of the same makeup. Your ac will work much better. Any recharge kit you buy at a parts store will be duracool.

I changed my old green(JD 4255) from R12 to R134A years back and it cools better on R134A than it ever did on R12. If I put Duracool in it I'd need a parka or Union suit. Most AC problems down here in Tx are caused from dirty cab filters ,plugged cond/evap,radiator or incorrect amount of Freon

We stuck a thermometer in the vent on my buddies JD 8430 the other night after adding some 134 and it was blowing 36 degrees. I wish my Kubota would blow that cold.

Yours is the first I ever heard of cooling better on 134. By the nature of the chemical it doesn't cool as well plus it runs at higher temps and pressures. My guess is your system was never charged properly with R12.

In the 20 yrs I've owned this tractor compiling 10,600 + hrs on the tach the AC has been repaired several times from failed compressor clutch, plugged expansion valve screens, etc repaired by different technicians and one got Freon charge correct and I guess the others failed. Amazing then add to the fact that a non certified AC person(ME) with a set of gauges has installed Freon on numerous occasions over period of my ownership.
