Park brake warning light

Even though my Kubota Grand L has a warning lamp built into the instrument cluster I still have driven off with the park brake on. I guess the park brake warning light is kind of down and out of the way so I don't notice it much. Well I decided to add another LED light to the beast and it cost me a whopping $6.97 (Wal-Mart) and 20 minutes to do it. I first placed the light in an area where I knew I would see it. I ran two wires to ground and the other 12 volt fused I ran to one leg of the micro switch that was already on the park brake. The original light still works in the cluster and this is just an extra warning light.

For the folks that don't have a warning light at all just get yourself a switch like that's on the Kubota Grand L's and it will work with the only difference is that you'll have to add a 12 volt power source. For the folks that don't have a cab you could use a soft sounding buzzer instead of a light is you wished to. just something to consider. This will prevent me from driving off with the brake on now (I hope) :D

Below is the park brake micro switch.

As you can see it's very thin.

This picture shows where I mounted it.

Paul,

Another very nice addition to the beast! Will you ever stop coming up with new ideas? I hope note!! I think we should turn this thread into a "Give Wildfire Some New Ideas" thread so that you can implement them and show the rest of us how it is done!

My hats off to you once again!

Thanks Thomas. This was an easy one to do but it works great. I had to go pushing snow this morning and as soon as I turned the key there was no problem to see I had my park brake on :D

There's a local doctor who has been after me to sell him the tractor so If I do I'll get another larger one and start all over again to customize it. :( Hard to justify getting rid of it though with a whopping 127 hours on it.

Well I not at all surprised that someone would be after your tricked out Kubota. You have really added a lot of value to that thing! Just curious though, if you did sell it would you get the same tractor again or something different?

Thanks Thomas. Someone was by the shop today and couldn't beleave how clean the tractor is. Even the mat inside don't have any dirt on it. It's as clean as the day it was built and folks do like the extras I've added.

As for another tractor. IF I sell it I may get another Grand L Cab with another 10 HP but I'm really starting to like the M series tractors. There's talk that Kubota is adding HST to them this year so that looks good to me.

Wildfire,
That brake light looks great just as I would expect from you. There is no hack job on your tractor and it just keeps getting better.

Thank you so much for posting the mod info, you are a big help.

Thanks Scott for your kind words. The way I've installed the things I've done on this tractor I've tried to make it appear as if it came with the tractor. The locals who come by don't even notice this stuff. It's only eagle eyed true tractor guys like yourself that see whats been done. ;) Thanks for you comment. Much appreciated. Paul

Wow, Is it your tractor? or Space shuttle~~~???
Awesome job~!

Joe.

Thanks Joe. Ya If I add much more I'll need to put a digital countdown display in the shop before I head out to plow the lots :D Thanks again for your comments my friend.
