Grapple Claw storage?

Is it best to store for both short (days) and long(months) term with the grapple fully open resting on the lower and upper tines? Or can I just leave it when detached with grapple closed and upright? Stored inside the garage. LandPride short video demonstrated removal. Presenter opened up grapple and set it on the tines before detaching. Understand it would be a more stable. But even closed and upright on a concrete level surface it seems stable.

• How easy is it to get it on/off the tractor
• How much space does it take up when it's off the tractor
• How stable is it when it's stored
• Is there a need to protect the cylinder rods during storage

I recently made up a "kick stand" to support the EA 60" Wicked grapple. This particular model won't stand up on its own when it's closed and off the tractor. I don't need to worry about the cylinder rods during long term storage because corrosion isn't an issue up here. I want the grapple to be easy to get on and take off, I want it to fit on a pallet, and be stable when stored.

I store mine open with the claws into the ground. I just want the cylinders retracted so the rods stay corrosion-free.

My friend built me a rack that holds my grapple at chest height. I can easily see to connect/disconnect, it has safety chains on the rack to prevent it from being knocked off.

That's slick. I just received my 55" Wicked Light grapple and will follow suit if needed.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

For those who have the Standard L series with the R4s with loaded rears, what do you set your tire pressures at? The manual says what the front should be but when it comes to loaded rears it's sorta confusing. 15psi rear. Full rated sidewall front. YMMV.

The instructions with my SGC1060 say to store it fully open on the tines. But it takes up a lot of floor space and is hard to attach, so I store it standing up on the concrete floor. It's pretty stable, but I wouldn't have kids around it. Outside, I'd follow the instructions.

My Land Pride SGC0660 grapple has fold out stands on either end so it sits stable in the upright position while closed. I store it inside on a dolly so I can move it around easily and keep it out of the way.

Grapple and snowblower along with the BX sits inside a garage when not in use. Grapple seems stable enough standing upright. Box blade, back blade, and dirt bucket sit on pallets outside. First thought when I brought OldBlue home back in '01 is I should have built a larger garage. Barely made it in with the ROPS up. The tractor with loader occupied the space that NewOrange and the couple implements sit with walking around room and a space to store the box scraper and back blade. But the need to attach, detach an implement to get to the one in back will be a bit of a pain. Still wish I would have built a bigger garage.

Recycling a pallet to mount casters on it for moving the snowblower around without needing to attach it to the tractor. If it works out fine. Will build a similar platform for all the implements but the dirt scoop.

I just screwed an appropriately sized sheet of plywood onto one of those cheap larger four wheeled dolly's and placed the grapple tines down and partially open. Works great and not too wide.

My EA 55" Grapple dolly build is Here

Already been 5 yrs since first built. On my concrete floor it sure is nice to roll it off to the side when not in use and right up to the front of the tractor when it is needed for a quick hook up.

That's a great idea!! And perfect for when I use the tractor at our wood lot a couple hours away. Nice to have both the bucket and grapple along, but hate having to dig the grapple out of the mud after its either fallen over or sunk after a few days of unexpected hard rainstorms!! Another project added to the list.....

You're welcome, and really nice work. I like that you repurposed what appears to be an old draw bar. It's always fun making something useful from steel in a scrap pile.
