Hey all. I'm not new to working on heavy equipment, but I'm inexperienced with working on Kubotas.

I'm working on a 2014 M108SHDC2. The initial complaint is that it will not go into gear, citing clutch not working. It was towed and dropped off at our yard.

Initially, it does seem like a clutch issue as it doesn't really want to go into gear (manual gear shift on the right side). But after playing with it I found that if I just hold the gear shifter into the gear I want (1st) about a 1/4 inch forward, but not fully engaged, the machine will go into gear somewhat and I can drive it. Its how I was able to get it into the bay. But before I go splitting the machine, I'm trying to come to a final conclusion on ensuring it is the clutch.

Details:
This machine has the manual gear shifter on the right hand side of the operators' seat, with the dual speed switch activated by moving the gear shifter to the left all of the way activating the button for lo/hi.
It has the shuttle lever on the left hand side of the steering column for F-N-R.
Has the Low/High range selector on the floor on the left side of the operators' seat.
The transmission/gearbox is overfilled with oil, about an inch above the full mark.
I already have the floor board plate off to access the top of the shuttle shift valve/transmission.
It looks like someone in the past had to deal with broken wires as two solenoids have repaired wires.

Here's where its throwing me off with diagnosing.

When the unit is off, the manual gear selector will go into all four gears.

I fire up the unit, shuttle shift in Neutral, range selector in low, dual speed in low/turtle, manual gear selector in Neutral, Parking Brake disengaged. If I try to use the clutch and engage 1st gear with the manual gear selector, it will not go into gear (if I shove really hard then I can get it to grind the gears. But weirdly, if you just ever so slightly move the gear selector forward, say into 1st, you can feel it barely engage and the unit wants to move forward. Mind you, the shuttle shift is in Neutral this whole time. I have the wheels chocked up but doing this method I can see the unit attempting to climb the chocks.

If I do the same procedure but put the shuttle shift in Forward, it does the same thing.

If I put the gear selector somewhat in 1st (remember, it's not fully engaging the gear, I'm only getting like a quarter inch forward movement of gear and have to hold it in place) and put the shuttle selector in Reverse, it still wants to creep forward, but also wants to bog down.

Now, lets start over. Everything in neutral. If I fire up the machine, foot holding the clutch, put the shuttle shift in reverse, and take my foot off the clutch, the unit bogs down and shuts off. If I fire up the machine, foot on the clutch, put it in Reverse and Manual Gear shift kinda in 1st, and release the clutch the unit bogs down and shuts off. Does this regardless of throttle input.

This is really throwing me off. Clutch pedal has 6in of travel to the stop. .50" of free play. No telling if the operator rides the clutch, and of course we are being told it simply stopped working so no idea what exactly happened when everything failed. The mechanical linkages on the column and on top of the transmission seem to be working correctly.

Does this still sound like a clutch issue? Or is it possible something is stuck in the transmission? To me, it seems like something is still engaged in the transmission, preventing proper operation of the unit.

I have the WSM on the computer and am just now giving it a look.

I appreciate any help at all and again, I'm relatively new to these tractors so I'm sorry if I'm getting the names of items wrong.

Sounds like the clutch is not disengaging. Could be rusted to the flywheel or just out of adjustment. Try shutting off the tractor, putting it in gear, then start the tractor in an open space because the tractor will probably move as soon as it starts. As for being able to move it with the shifter, you are using the synchro collars to drive the tractor. Don't do that. You will wear out the synchro's in short order.

Ah, ok thank you for the heads up! I'll make sure to not do that anymore.

As for trying to start it while its in gear, I believe this unit has a safety switch preventing that. I can start it if I have in Forward gear from the Shuttle Shifter, but it won't crank if I have the Manual Shifter in gear.

That tractor does not have a Mechanical clutch!

Splitting it will reveal a blank disk and that's it.
I suggest you read the WSM for troubleshooting.
