Help Needed!!
I am a new Kubota owner and new to this forum, and here is my problem…. I recently purchased a used M9540, 4WD, ROPS, Sync-Shuttle 8x8 trans, with 270 hrs on the meter. I was cutting hay with an 8ft disc mower and after about an hour in the 3 pt arms would not work, however the Hyd cylinder and loader still worked fine. I shut the tractor off and the next morning the lift worked fine. The next day I used the 3pt tedder and after about an hour same problem…. Tractor cools off & lift works fine… So, I call the dealer and I am instructed to change the Hyd filers (2) remove and clean the check valves on top of the 3pt arms (3 of them). I do this and hook up my round baler the following day, after about an hour of bailing my arms will not work again and nothing is even hooked to them, but the hyd cylinders still work, and after the tractor cools off the arms work again.. Call the dealer again….. This time I am instructed to clean out the radiator and check the coolant. The Radiator was very dirty and it took some time to clean but the coolant level was fine... Sooooo, I go back to the field yesterday and the same thing happens… Lift is working fine, but after the tractor gets hot the lift quits working, but once the tractor cools everything is fine…. Has anyone ever heard of such a problem ?????
Thanks
MC

While cleaning rad. did you also clean the hyd oil cooler?? It sounds as if oil is getting too hot from a leaking relief valve or oil cooler problem.

I did clean the hyd oil cooler with an air hose and then the water hose and looked good after.....

How do I check for a leaking relief valve? or a cooler problem??

THKS for the help...

You should be able to hear a relief valve by-passing. One can use a laser therm. to find hot spots. hot spots indicate internal hyd leak.

When you say the hyd cyl work are you talking about the ones that operate the 3pt? You got to wonder why your loader works fine and the 3pt doesn’t, I am not familiar with the 9540 but find out if there is a hydraulic priority valve

Does it leak down?
Does it raise without any load on it when it's hot?
Try putting a load on it and get the tractor hot and see if it falls. If it does it can be either a bad valve or a bad cylinder seal.

I don't have a laser therm... but if you put your hand on top of where the hyd couplers hook up it is very hot after about 30min to 1 hour of operation. I also put my hand on the hyd pump and it feels hot but I am not sure what one should feel like under normal conditions.

I believe it is something that is bypassing but I don't know where to look.... I am not much of a mechanic....

The Hyd cyl I am referring to is the ones that operate the remotes..

How do I find out if there is a Hyd priority valve?

I does not leak down, but will lower if you move the lever to the down postion, but will not raise.

It will not raise when hot with or without a load.

It just seems like the oil is running through all the time because the top of the Hyd coupler area is very hot to the touch.. I just don't know what is getting bypassed...

It does not leak down, and will hold its position unless you move the lever down then it will go down but will not raise again until the tractor cools off.

It will not raise with or without a load when it is hot.

It does seem like to oil is constantly running through because the area around the hyd remotes is very hot to the touch.

There's no hyd cylinder that operates the remotes. To find priority valve one would need to search parts catalog or service manual.

Mike, here is a link showing a priority valve https://www.surpluscenter.com/adspecs/AS9-5024-50.pdf
Are you having any problems with the steering? the more I think about what North Idaho wolfman said about your problem I think it must be linked to the 3pt valve or 3 pt cylinders. The priority valve would shut off your FEL also.
No the steering and FEL work fine even after the 3pt stops working.
