Doing a ground up 100% restoration on my RCK60-24B while in the process of replacing the deck shell. I had replaced the gearbox assembly a about three years ago so that was pretty much the only part of the deck that did not get a make over.
Here is the part where the "preservation" of my bacon comes in...

I was reinstalling the pulleys on the outboard spindles and for the life of me had issues in figuring out the best way to do it without beating and banging. From experience going that direction on machined parts.... well there is no turning back.... so I consulted OTT and found a thread on the very subject. All I had to do was heat the pulley to around 300* and place it over the cold spindle and key stock. I did it and both of the pulleys just fell into place!

The only exception to the thread was how I heated the pulleys..... I did not use propane or Mapp gas.... as the paint was relatively fresh and Lord knows I did not want to mess it up.
So.... I used my wife's convection oven. All was fine until it "stunk" up the house.
Well at least I got the pulleys installed....

I finally bought a large used toaster/convection oven for my shop to prevent that.... happy wife.....

That’s a great idea to heat to a controlled temperature. Maybe run the stove hood next time? :)

I’m at the point where my rc60-24d is starting to look like Frankenstein due to all the additional bracing and welded cracks. I guess as long as I don’t have rot and good metal to weld I’ll keep dragging her along. So far just belts blades and rebuilding one spindle
