I am trying to inflate the rear tires R1 of my l2501. I was told it was filled with glycol, so i parked it with the stem facing 12 o clock. But when i depressed the pin, glycol is coming out. Does it mean i need to let glycol out before i can put air in? How much glycol do i let out? Thanks for any advice

No removal required, just add air, use a tire gauge meant for liquid filled tires.

And your tires are filled with Glycol?
Not a good thing if it's the wrong kind of glycol.
Propylene glycol = RV antifreeze = OK to use.
Ethylene glycol = Automotive antifreeze = should not be used!

With tire jacked up off the ground and valve stem at 12 o clock you should not have a solid stream of liquid coming out of the valve stem. If you do, remove the shrader valve from the valve stem and drain the liquid until it stops coming out of the valve stem. Reinstall the shraeder valve and then add air. In my owners manual there are several illistrations showing ballast fill level and the importance of having air space in the tire.

I used WW fluid in my rear tires, but what is the concern with ethylene glycol? I take it is is due to harm caused if animals drink it?

Is there another reason? Just curious. Lots of that stuff in vehicle engines...can't imagine it would be bad for the rims like a salt solution would be...

WW fluid is fine, it has some inherent risks, but they are manageable.
Automotive antifreeze is a bad choice because its a toxic to animals and the environment.
Yes if always contained it's fine for the tire and rim.

And methanol is not toxic? WW fluid is methanol and water
Yes it is, but it evaporates. ;)
Or you can light it on fire and burn it off if you want! :devilish::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Also it doesn't taste good, so animals don't go after it.

The dealer that sold my tractor filled the rear tires with a weak solution of ethylene glycol also. If I had bought it new I would have made them remove it but whatr ya gonna do when you inherit it used. They didn't even make it strong enough to prevent freezing so it's just a toxic mix of fluid that shouldn't have been put in. One of mine was over filled so I removed the valve stem core and connected a hose to drain it down to level.

Per the manual for my LX3310:

sounds like the place I used to work for. They wanted the tires filled FULL of fluid. On the L2501/L3301/L3901, 1 gal antifreeze and the rest water, to the brim. I tried to tell them that wasn't smart but the boss didn't listen very well. He had his own way of doing things.

windshield washer fluid is flammable. And nasty stuff if you or an animal drinks any of it, or gets it inside somehow. In humans, the methanol causes blindness and with enough of it, death. Also burns, in the daytime, without a flame. So if you had a leak and you drive into the burn pile, you feel the heat but you don't see any fire, so in a lot of folks' mind, since there's no visible flame, it's not "flammable". Good thing, methanol fire can be put out with water.

better to just use the stuff that is specifically made for tire ballast, and fill it at 75%.

The dealer filled the rears on my MX5400 with beet juice.
Last fall I tried to check the tire pressure and both the valves were stuck, I couldn’t get a pressure reading or add air. I tried different ways to clear the valves without any luck. With the tires off the ground and the valve at 12:00 I went to remove the valve and had beet juice spraying everywhere. Ended up with a heck of a mess. The tires were definitely over filled.
Once I had them drained to just below the 12:00 position I replaced both valves. I hope the stuck valves isn’t going to be an ongoing issue, but I bought a 10 pack of valves just in case.

I can add air to my filled tires with the valve stem at 12 o’clock without jacking up the wheel. Something isn’t right with this situation.
You can slowly clock the wheel to move the valve stem. Press the valve core every so often. When ya get spit, that's your level.
I took enough out so that I didn't get any to spit out when the valve is at noon o'clock.

I need some help understanding the hi-lited sentence regarding the removal of the liquid ballast in cabbed tractors. Copied from an earlier post above:

EDIT: I DO understand the sentence, but not the reason :)
