Hi,

My L245DT fuel pump has a small leak under middle delivery valve holder. I'm assuming it is the copper washer that needs replacing in there.

In parts manual there is no o-ring under the holder but i've read that i can add o-ring there. Is that ok and does that take care of the leak? Or should i change the copper gasket and add o-rings too?

What size is the o-ring?

Why there are o-rings under there in some cases but parts manual does not show them? I'm bit confused.

Here is a video where o-rings are being replaced to same DH1101 engine as L245DT has:

Thanks!

copper washers area use once, buy another item
WHO said 'add an o-ring' !! Will WHO repair your engine ???
I seriously doubt you can apply the required torque and NOT have the o-ring destroyed as I don't think there's a machined groove to hold the o-ring ?

Couldn’t find the o-rings on any drawing, local dealer had no idea. They were on the tractor when I bought it(used), this is the size I found after a lot of searching. It’s what I used on my L245DT, still dry.

The O-rings were on some pumps as a dirt / moisture seal, they are not for stopping diesel leaks.

If the holders do not have the cut for the O-ring then it's worthless and could adversely affect the delivery valve properly seating on the sealing washer.

The delivery valve seals (washers) are what stops them from leaking diesel.

Mine doesn't leak when motor is running. It leaks only if I leave the tractor parked and fuel tank valve open.

On the video he is changing the o-rings to stop the leak.

Can fuel leak inside the motor if o-rings are sealing but copper washer isn't?

Why in earth there is versions with o-rings if that can not be found anywhere in part diagrams?

No fuel can not leak into the engine from either the sealing washers or the o-rings.
That's a whole other issue.

I couldn't tell you why different injection pump have different sealing methods.
You would have to ask Zexel, and denso as they made the pumps.

This thread has me confused as I was thinking the oring was under the copper washer to stop the leak, but several have said they're there ! It's just 'wrong' to me,though it's another 'be nice to be there ,to SEE what they're doing' problem......
Was told to ALWAYS use a NEW washer and 'deck it' with 500 -800-1000G sandpaper to remove any 'burrs' . p
While 'decking' probably isn't needed, I've never had a leak from doing it.

He is where the internet can really fool people.
You see a video and assume that all of them are the same.
That is a MUCH newer engine and pump than your engine.
You are assuming that they are the same when they are not.

Your pump does NOT have an O-ring seal.

The undocumented o ring saga continues….they go at the top of the threads not under the copper gasket.
As other threads have shown, it’s a great mystery of the kubota world. If you take it apart and they’re there, then I’d put them in(I did). Either way you go, just buy two sets of copper gaskets as plan b, cheap insurance.

GREAT picture, worth more than 1000 words ! I suspect they leak as the copper washer isn't the proper size(width ),so not enough surface area of material(copper) to seal when the 2 parts are mated ?
i have seen copper washers that weren't flat, 3-4 small 'hills and valleys',. When tightened the 'hills' would deform into the 'valleys' ,to prevent oil from seeping out. The added o-ring ,when squished down does this.

@Greenvillejay, these rambling and rabid off the wall posts have got to stop.
WHAT PICTURE?
The OP has put up pictures all external and there is not a seal in sight!
You CAN NOT see any seals externally.

This gets interesting..

My injection pump looks like this. Delivery valve holders look different on mine than in all the posts that I've seen.

Identifion plate on my pump says "094500-0612, NP-PFR3M55/1ND061"

Maybe the pump has been replaced at some point? The tractor has around 4510 hours on it.

Right under the fuel lines (blue circle) is the whole engine model and serial number, can you give me that number?
