I took delivery of my BX 2680 over the holidays. I mowed the lawn on Monday, in January, I know.

One reason for the Kubota is the 4x4. I have a steep drop from the house to the bottom of the front lawn. On my old tractor the loader frame acted as a foot rest going down the hill. Basically I push myself against seat. Kind of half standing.

Im thinking of making a foot rest that mounts to the hole where the loader on the new tractor mounts.

Anyone else thought about doing something similar?

Wear the seat belt!
It will serve 2 purposes, one to hold your backside in the seat while going down that sucker and one to save your backside when it flips on that hill!

It shouldn’t be to hard to do. Every new piece of equipment takes a bit of learning trial error. Might bolt a 2x4 on in different spots to figure whats comfortable before you make a permanent one. Not a fan of seat belts on lawn tractors or motorcycles 😆I want off quickly if its time to abort the mission. Unfortunately i have tested this in my younger days .Enjoy your new equipment. If you have rolled a tractor or piece of equipment without a cab. Seatbelt has never been my friend . Probably why most lawn tractors dont have them….
Bobcat with a solid cab ? Yep i wear my seat belt. No escape from them.
But opinions are like…. Everybody has one 😆Farm country and have seen many rollovers in 70 years.

Not to be a safety nag, but....

Since the OP's tractor weighs 1500 lbs, they wouid be a lot safer wearing a belt if the tractor flips or rolls. Kicking one's self clear of a wreck works most of the time on motorcycles (I've done it), but a tractor is a rather different beast. Obvious, on flat terrain, skipping seat belts is less risky... but on a steep slope, no. Roll overs and flips kill about 100 folks/year.

I have a similar issue with my drive, always in 4wd and seatbelt always on. I just slide forward till belt stops me. And ROPS up!

That looks like a beautiful spot! :)

Slope doesn't show well in pictures, but there's a couple spots that look REALLY steep!

I've navigated a steep yard for 34 years; 11 with a BX2360. Most isn't as steep as yours.

Those spots close to camera and that hollow above and to the right of the of the tree look challenging.

I agree with the others; seatbelts might be a great thing.

A foot rest isn't bad, but the seat belt is "more better!" ;)

Your Profile shows a BX1500. Did you mow with that, and did it have a front-end loader (FEL)?

I see your BX2680 has a loader mount. With loader on, your BX2680 will lose rear tire traction heading down to the lake.

If you lose rear tire traction, you can slide down the hill very quickly if in 2WD. 4WD will allow the front tires to help "brake" the tractor on a downhill slope.

Want to keep in 4WD ALWAYS, and definitely consider some real ballast weight on the 3 point hitch (3PH) - like 3-400 pounds worth.

Even without a loader on, I've had short slides downhill in 2WD. No danger, but it gets your attention......not something you want to encourage.

Heck I'm HAPPY to see you're mowing .up and down. and not, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh sideslope !!!!!!
Kubota says wear seatbelt when ROPS is 'up and locked'.

3rd purpose for wearing seatbelt, is to make it easy for EMS to find you. That''s from Bill Cosby, why is there air.....
