Rear remotes loose

I connected my rear remotes to a hydraulic top link today for the first time. While pressing the hose connectors together I noticed the mount holding the rear remote hydraulic line (dealer installed) was loose. I moved to the lower hose and had the same thing happen. When I look behind the factory mounting plate I see that the hoses are held in place with a snap ring. Using some snap ring pliers I put the snap rings back into the groove that should hold them against the mounting plate.

That lasted until I operated the top link. As soon as the top link position changed the hoses moved within the mount.

The snap rings do appear to be strong enough to hold the hoses in place.

Is this the typical mounting format for factory rear remotes?

This is on an LX3520 cab tractor.

First picture shows the loose snap ring on the upper connector.
Second picture shows the lower connector in place with the snap ring on it.
Last picture shows the upper hose being pushed around when the top link moves.

That snap ring is twisted. get a new one and lose the pipe tape on the fitting. Snap rings have a sharp edge on one side and a rolled edge on the other, when installing place the sharp edge away from the plate it mounts through.

Got it. Interesting that the dealer used to tape. That was their install. Appreciate the help!

My remotes did that as well. Wish the male thread stuck through the mounting hole bracket and the female coupler would have held it in place. Seems stupid to me but oh well

I don’t see how that would work well. There needs to be something on the coupler side to hold it in place. Seems like the lower one in the picture is closer to being correct.

I wo go to a dealer and see how others are installed.

I think that the adaptors are British thread. You might be able to find a narrow nut that would allow you to use the adaptor as a bulkhead fitting and get the fitting tight in the mount. Maybe?

Or start stacking washers in there maybe some lock washers in the mix also so that the hose end tightens the washers against the mount. This would pretty much have to be perfect though. I think doable and for sure better than what has been provided.

In the parts diagram, how it is, is how it is shown.

What is better is what is used on the LX 10 series, then the couplers are in a cast iron housing just like the Grand L series have.

I have 3 sets of dealer installed OEM rear remotes on my economy level open station L. I looked at mine this afternoon hoping to see something more secure than a snap ring. They’re secured with a nut on both sides of the mounting plate. If using a nipple with straight pipe thread, seems like it would be pretty easy to do that. Tapered thread, not so much.

Hopefully the snap ring on yours came off due to the sharp side being installed adjacent to the plate rather than away from the plate.

The top snap ring, in the first picture, is bent and spread open. You need to replace that and they should have not put sealant on the hose connections.

I was able to install a new spring steel snap ring, which seems to have cured it. It's not as tight or as solid as a nut on either side of the mount, but it's staying in position. I did clean all of the Teflon tape from the threads.

Glad you have it worked out.

look at Belleville washers and see if they could be used to make that a tighter joint if you are interested in doing that.
