121-3 Excavator Engine Wanted

I have a Kubota 121-3ss (serial number xxx) that appears to need a new engine. We had smoke and high engine oil use as the main symptoms. A mechanic came out and found the air intake line between the air filter and the intake had broken, and we have been sucking raw dusty air into the engine and have scored the pistons/cylinder walls. Quotes for replacement or boring out the current engine are too rich for my budget. It looks fairly easy for a mechanically capable person like me to do an engine swap. so I am looking for a reman long block—any leads of a reasonably priced supplier?

V2203M IDI used $3000 to $5,000 used.

You will need to be careful on getting an engine as there are mutiple versions of the V2203's and only one version will work for you, as the other versions mutiple dimensions and added parts change.

What price did you get to rebuild it?

Cost for me to rebuild that engine:
Rebuild kit is $1,000 if no other hard parts are involved.
Labor is about $2,500
Machine should run about $1000.
So total would be around $5000.

No, still in the machine. I have family in sandpoint and I have a pesky day job trip over there to Albani Falls Dam in a month.
