That's exactly what I was thinking when Kubota introduced the smaller X-Tractor, it'll clear the snow before I'm even out of bed. But I don't see it being good for working in the woods, so IF come 2035 the U.S. Government bans internal combustion engines I might be out of luck. Then again like @Oleracer I'm an oldie, so maybe I'll be too crotchety by then anyway... :cautious:

I think that would be excellent in the woods, no cab to smash, no safety concern if it rolled, no ROPS to get hung up in the trees.
I'm thinking that Kubota real design use is more geared to AG / field use.
But like everything else we've done to our Kubota's, we can adapt a tractor to do just about anything.

That is a highly stylized unit, they wanted it to look high tech!
One note is that you don't really need fenders if there is no operator to get mud and rocks thrown at.
And the front fenders are worthless for that anyways, they are on the front side of a track movement.
The rear fender has almost no clearance and any mud on the tracks would wipe it right out.
Yes it would help keep the body a little "cleaner' for air movement if needed.
If you look at the insides of the tracks there is a bar (track keeper) that would last about 2.5 seconds in the field, before they were bent, so show only.
Why would you need Head lights and Tail lights on an robotic vehicle?
It does look like it has a pretty trick Top and Tilt Quick connect Three point on it.

So yes it's a show room model, but I would love to see a working version!

Hey if they are mandated to build crap like that it will just make our older iron worth more. Look at what happened in trucking. They build these junk plastic areo trucks only go 500-700k plus in shop all the time with derated. Just made all the 2000 back trucks worth way more than 10-20 years ago. 10 grand was about all the money for a 1999 pete. Now 50k wont buy a running one. Many at 100-120k ( plus no eld).
I think its more of a dream comiefornia is pushing with 2035 crap. In jan all that will get ended.
Who knows. By than maybe only 1-2 manufacturers.
With lithium batteries….. lots of problems with insurance and financing coming up. Already automotive not allowing in parking garages and some condos

I'm not sure why Kubota put solar panels on top, do they not know farming is dusty??? At that size they couldn't power a toaster, much less a tractor.

Good point. I'm still wondering why Kubota put solar panels on. I know people who have no utility-supplied power in their remote locations and have solar backed by diesel generator, and Australians who've said power is so expensive solar supplement makes sense, but those are houses with lots of surface area and they still can't run A/C on a sunny day without help, and based on that I'm wondering how a tractor benefits from panels. Even Tesla got away from solar (their home panel company went bankrupt despite the car company feeding them funds which the FTC declared illegal due to not reporting it to Tesla's board as they'd likely have not agreed to it), and obviously their cars don't have them (it's not economical to transport them due to the energy it takes to move their weight).

Oh I don't disagree that solar panel on a tractor is impractical in logistics and viability.
But maybe it's not solar panels like we think of them, maybe it sensor panels for orientation to the sun????
I would have to see a complete write up on the build.
